Exeter Racecourse has an early Christmas treat with pre-booked grandstand and paddock tickets available at both its December meetings for just £10 each. Racegoers will also witness the first ever Santas on the Run to take place on a racecourse when a herd of Santas, including racing celebrities, will be charging down the home straight for Children’s Hospice South West at its final meeting of the year (December 15).
Racing takes place at the course on Friday, December 2 and Thursday, December 15 and with a free bus to and from Exeter city centre, general manager Alice Everitt says it’s the perfect opportunity to get into some festive racing. “Both meetings have exceptionally strong cards in terms of the quality of racing and are always popular. It’s an opportunity to see some Cheltenham Festival hopefuls in action. With all our November meetings attracting some exceptionally high calibre horses this is sure to be the case in December, not to mention the interesting prospect of hundreds of Santas turning up which should be a lot of fun.”
Explaining the discounted tickets, Miss Everitt added: “Racing is such a great way to enjoy exciting sport, meet old friends and make new and generally have a really good time. We’ve therefore reduced our Grandstand and Paddock tickets to make the experience as affordable as possible so that people can come along and have a really great day out.”
Anyone wishing to take part in Santas On The Run, which will be a two furlong dash down the home straight at 11.30am, should pre-register with the Children’s Hospice South West at www.chsw.org.uk/santas. It costs just £15 per Santa which includes the suit and the chance to enjoy the rest of the day at the races.
