Dave Thomas from Bluegrass Computer Services makes these observations about Different Cloud Computing service:

We’ve now established what the Cloud and Cloud Computing are, and it’s now appropriate to look at the key elements of the Cloud and Cloud Computing.

Now let’s take a look at the Cloud first which has 3 separate offerings:

Public Cloud

The infrastructure provided by the vendor is shared between users and organisations.  Examples, of a Public Cloud would be Amazon and Google.

Private Cloud

For those businesses who don’t want to share a platform or storage of data they can create this by having a dedicated infrastructure.  This can be achieved either by using a dedicated hosted platform in the Cloud or hosting within the business’s own infrastructure.  Important to note that this can be expensive.

Hybrid Cloud

As the phrase indicates this is a mix of Public and Private.  The principle being that non sensitive business applications and data are held on a Public Cloud and critical/sensitive applications are run from a Private Cloud or on internal hardware.
