The exhibition will have a botanical theme and the winning group will display their work in Exeter’s Royal Albert Memorial Museum (RAMM) from Saturday 30 April to Sunday 29 May.
Cllr Rosie Denham, Lead Councillor for Economy and Culture, explains: “Exeter City Council is delighted to be working with the Express & Echo to help recognise, reward and foster creativity in the city. This annual competition allows us to give recognition to the work of local art groups, help broaden appreciation of the wealth of local talent and give one group the opportunity to display their best work in perfect surroundings. Complementing the International Garden Photographer of the Year exhibition in April and Botanical Drawings in June, the 2016 competition will have a botanical theme. We hope this will inspire groups to create new work and make it easier for voters to compare entries.”
All entries must be submitted by Friday 19 February 2016. Shortlisted entrants will be featured in the Express and Echo throughout March when readers will vote for their favourite. The winning group will be announced on 7 April.
Full details, including terms and conditions and a gallery plan, are available on RAMM’s Local Art Show 2016 webpage.
The previous winners are Topsham Art Group (2015), Sense (2014), Hive Art Group (2013) and Fairstream Arts (2012).
