Dave picked me up at 6.30 in the morning and he brought me at home at 9 p.m. It was a very long day but full of interesting things and I fell asleep smiling. The show was held in the heart of the East Devon Countryside on a 140 acre site and it was a showcase for the best of local farming, produce, crafts and rural skills. With over 400 trade stands, including crafts, shopping and a fabulous food hall there really was something for everyone. Walking around the show different smells were mixed with others and the people voices created the background. thebestof Exeter’s stand was a sort of small village, where you could find different attractions, from food to face painting. After a refreshing ice cream I visited the show together with Dave’s mother who told me a little bit of Honiton Show’s history (the first Honiton Show was held in 1890). Around 5 p.m Rodney had a brilliant idea: get in one of the hydropools, that were set in our stand. I couldn’t resist to get in even if I didn’t have my bikini. So I followed Rebecca’s suggestion (Dave’s wife) and I get in with a t-shirt. Oh it was wonderful! I couldn’t stop to repeat that I didn’t believe to be in England! Hot sun, hydropool, fresh ice cream and lovely company. Before going home we took a cold drink to quench the thirst in a typical old pub on the road to Exeter. I immediately felt better after a little sip of my drink (sorry but its name was so strange for me that I can’t remember it!). Thanks to everyone for this beautiful day out!

Bye-bye,

Sara.
