Ms Blatchford, along with other staff from Bowhill Primary School, took another group to the popular Argee Bhajee Indian takeaway and restaurant on Buddle Lane in St. Thomas in Exeter this week.

Greeted by Hossain, the manager, and Jamil, the owner of Argee Bhajee (along with Denley's Essence of Indian in Topsham and Pukka Indian in Exeter's South Street), the 29 pupils experienced a real treat which included learning about Indian culture, watching Indian food being made - and tasting some Indian specialities.

Whilst Indian music played in the background, the chefs showed the Bowhill Primary students how to prepare chicken pakura, a medium curry and a mild korma curry. The pupils also got to see the hot tandoori oven in the kitchen. They were amazed at the chef's description of how the tandoori chef holds the skewered chicken in the flames and also how he puts the nan bread in the tandoori oven with its flames lapping - so he no longer has hair on his arms!

Argee Bhajee is a friendly, neighbourhood restaurant which provides locals with tasty Indian cuisine. It also has seating for 30 people - great for parties and family gatherings!

Well done to Bowhill Primary School for using their local Indian restaurant as a multi-cultural resource. The children and their teachers experienced a memorable, tasty treat at Argee Bhajee.
