This week sees the launch of a charity that is here to serve the Exeter, Mid and East Devon districts. Over this catchment area, 1800 young people at any one time will be experiencing the impact of  someone significant in their lives dying.

balloons is a charity that has been set up to provide pre and post grief support to children, young people and their families. The charity’s aim is to assist grieving children to share their experiences as they move through their own healing processes, whilst taking account of their emotional, spiritual, social and physical needs.

balloons provides this through a variety of services. Deborah Butler, the Family Support Worker and Trainer for balloons explains that their new web site will be available for those who wish to find out more about the charity’s work or those who are seeking active support. The web site address is www.balloons-devon.org.uk.

“Also, we are always on the look out for people who want to be involved - in many capacities. At present we are setting up another group of volunteers called FOb’s – ‘Friends Of balloons’-who will be responsible for developing creative and fun ways of raising funds whilst involving the community in this process as much as possible. So, if there is anyone out there with a passion for the work we are undertaking and a commitment to ensure we are not here one year and gone the next, please get in touch.”

For those with an interest please contact us on 01392 826065 or 01392 826064 or email the project manager at projectmanager@balloons-devon.org.uk.
