Racing enthusiasts are being invited to join a distinguished panel of top racing celebrities at Exeter Racecourse on Thursday, February 23. And organisers of the event are hoping to get the debates raging by encouraging attendees to submit their questions prior to the evening to ensure they are answered.
On the panel are champion trainer Paul Nicholls, leading Westcountry trainers David Pipe, Philip Hobbs and Nick Williams, well known racing correspondent from the Racing Post Andrew King, author of the Weatherbys Cheltenham Festival Betting Guide Paul Jones and Paddy Power himself from sponsors Paddy Power who will have all the latest betting news.
A spokesman said: “It’s a big event and often daunting to stand up and ask questions so we’re hoping to receive some good ones via email. Hopefully it will get the trainers talking about their intended plans and hopes for the Festival. We know the handicaps are always a major talking point and it would be fantastic to uncover a winner or two.”
Organisers are also asking anyone who submits a question to include their choice for a charity bet. The most nominated horse will then be the racecourse’s official bet with Paddy Power, with the proceeds donated to the Devon Air Ambulance if it wins.
David Pipe, who trained two Festival winners last year, said: “The preview evenings are a lot of fun. It’s a great chance for the audience to ask us about our horses and our hopes for the Festival and hopefully, between us, we’ll give them a winner or two.”
The bar opens at 6pm, with host for the evening Zoey Bird getting the panel underway with their verdicts for the Festival at 7.00pm. Tickets for the evening cost £20 per person and include a hot one course supper. To book call the racecourse on 01392 832599 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 01392 832599 end_of_the_skype_highlighting. Places are limited and early booking is advised.
Questions need to be submitted by Tuesday, February 21 to Catherine.truman@thejockeyclub.co.uk.
