2016 programme at Exeter Corn Exchange

The programme includes comedy from artists such as Russell Howard, Julian Clary and Sarah Millican.  Music artists featured include Fairport Convention, Russell Watson and Gareth Gates.  Other highlights of a varied programme include the cyclist Mark Beaumont, Vienna Festival Ballet, The Tales of Beatrix Potter and Puppetry of the Penis.

 

The new programme kicks off with a visit from Circus of Horrors with their latest show ‘Welcome to the Carnevil’ on Monday 18 January, and this is followed by Elkie Brooks in concert on Saturday 23 January.

 

The Corn Exchange plays a major part in Exeter’s LOL Comedy Festival with six shows: Dave Gorman (24 January), Jim Davidson (29 January), Stewart Francis (3 February), Exeter Comedy Club (5 February), Mark Thomas (10 February) and Tommy Tiernan (12 February).

 

Saturday 6 February is the date for a tribute to two of the UK’s greatest ever bands when Oas-is appear with Stereoironics and the venue hosts Exeter Dance Festival from 13 until 20 February.

Veteran folk rockers Fairport Convention appear on Wednesday 24 February and Legend is a tribute to the music of Bob Marley on Friday 26 February.  There is comedy on Sunday 28 February from Russell Kane and more on Monday 7 March when Russell Howard performs a work in progress.  Psychic Sally performs at the Corn Exchange on Wednesday 9 March and Exeter Comedy Club returns with another line up of top stand up performers on Friday 11 March.

 

Record-breaking endurance cyclist Mark Beaumont presents ‘Africa Solo’ on Monday 14 March and Vienna Festival Ballet performs Swan Lake, the most popular of all the classic ballets, on Wednesday 16 March.  Comedian Mark Steel appears on Sunday 20 March and there is an Easter family treat from Thursday 24 until Saturday 26 March when Kickline, the production company responsible for the Corn Exchange pantomime return with The Tales of Beatrix Potter.  There is more Easter family fun with Alice in Wonderland on Wednesday 30 March and comedian Lee Nelson is ‘Suited & Booted’ on Friday 1 April.  ELO Again on Saturday 2 April celebrates the music of the Electric Light Orchestra and Feast of Fiddles return to the Corn Exchange on Wednesday 6 April.  There is another Exeter Comedy Club evening on Friday 8 April and more comedy from Mark Watson on Sunday 10 April.

 

The unique and possibly most entertaining rock duo in the world, John Otway and Wild Willy Barrett appear on Wednesday 13 April and there is camp comedy from the one and only Julian Clary on Friday 15 April.  Dylan Moran presents his new show ‘Off the Hook’ on Saturday 16 April and conservationist and TV presenter Saba Douglas-Hamilton brings ‘A Life with Elephants’ to the Corn Exchange on Monday 18 April.  Comedian Bridget Christie presents her new show ‘A Book for Her’ on Tuesday 19 April and Whole Lotta Led perform their tribute to Led Zeppelin on Friday 22 April.  Spirit of Ireland presents the very best in Irish dancing on Monday 25 April and the world renowned Puppetry of the Penis is on Friday 29 April.  There is more comedy on Saturday 30 April with stand-up Shazia Mirza and again on Friday 6 May with another Exeter Comedy Club evening.

 

Legends of Irish music, The Fureys, appear on Monday 9 May and the Banff Mountain Film Festival returns to the Corn Exchange on Friday and Saturday, 13 & 14 May.  Kast Off Kinks, featuring a line-up of former members of the Kinks perform on Wednesday 18 May and Gareth Gates and Michael Courtney join forces to present Mad About the Musicals on Wednesday 25 May.  UK Pink Floyd Experience is on Saturday 28 May and on the following day Boishaki Mela is a Bangladeshi New Year Celebration.  Exeter Comedy Club returns on Friday 3 June and Kinky & Quirky present another Burlesque and Boogie celebration on Saturday 11 June.  Top comedy star Sarah Millican appears on Saturday 25 June and Westrock on Friday 1 July is the classic American rock show.

 

Looking ahead to August shows include Crazy 4 Soul, a northern soul all-dayer on 6 August, Russell Watson in concert on 10 August and a return from male dance troupe The Dreamboys on 19 August.
