Redoubt Fortress, Royal Parade, Eastbourne, BN22 7AQ
The Redoubt Fortress was built to defend against Napoleon and the building has previously hosted a number of exhibitions and a military museum. In the present day the Fortress is used as a venue for events such as Stargazing with local Astronomy groups. The venue has been open for weekend hardhat tours to explore the Casemates and wander around the gun platform for panoramic views.
Ranging from pre-history to present day, The Story of Eastbourne is told through the eyes of past ancestors, starting with the Iron Age lady and child, discovered during excavations in Kings Drive just a couple of years ago, and the world renowned Beachy Head woman.
