I attended a thebestofEastbourne Academy workshop today and found it an immensely useful and productive experience. David Ruddle's experience and knowledge of marketing using social media and web techniques is incredibly wide and deep, and almost impossible to take in all at once! I'll have to book into another such workshop to consolidate what I learnt today, but I'll definitely apply what I did manage to take in!

Each time I attend a session with David, I learn something more. Feeling much more confident about using the website for Creative Force and in helping people to work more creatively on blogs, events promotion etc. Plus you get to meet great people who are passionate about what they do locally for Eastbourne. Over the last 6 months Edeal has been working with David at thebestof Eastbourne to run the First Friday networking meetings. Since working with David the number of attendees has doubled, the meetings are more structured and the feedback has been excellent. Davids energy and enthusiasm is very infectious, he has a real passion for helping businesses and the advice he gives is invaluable.

The Best Of websites allow us as a college to work closely with other groups within the community. It celebrates the best of local and allows us to support and create links with independent businesses. For example, a previous retailer of the year on this website became our go-to source on A-Level results day for decorations/balloons/helium etc. Our Employment team has great links with many of the top restaurants and hotels listed here, providing ample opportunities for our students when it comes to industry placements and apprenticeships. We have also made great contacts with accident repair companies and sports companies who come in and showcase their industry to students. The what's on guide helps us tie in with community events such as Airbourne, Beach Life and fundraising days, and also lets us reach a wider audience when it comes to promoting our own college events. Another excellent evening at the launch of thebestof awards. One of the things I love about being involved with thebestof Eastbourne is getting to meet lots of amazing, local people. I'm more inclined to get things done if I know, with confidence, that I have someone reliable to do the job / training that I need. So far I've changed my dentist to The Dental Barn, had training through Ditzy Media and collaborated with Mugshots Cafe to deliver a presentation about Marianne North. All excellent things that have happened within the last 6 months. There are far more contacts out there I will be using soon too. Thanks for making this such an important component of what you do, David!
