We found this place by accident on the way to Eastbourne (10 mins drive) - wall to wall boats of every size and description, fabulous waterside homes, lots of little footpaths to wander around and great places to eat!

Visit on February 16th. Warm and sunny. Able to sit outside at cafes by waterside in just a jumper. (Last time there Summer 2012 blowing a gale) Very relaxing to walk around , watching boats go under bridges and also out to sea. Short visit before returning home from weekend so didn't go in any of the shops this time. Took several photos including .those of cormmorants- lots of them there enjoying the sunshine(I enjoy taking photos of birds and animals)

We visited on a crisp sunny day & the harbour was bathed in sunlight. There was an array of lovely places to eat but only one shop! I think there would be plenty of space for a couple of different types of shop to make it the kind of place I would like to visit again.

A variety of restaurants from very good value at The Harvester (great outdoor eating area with super Marin views) to a range of good value world restaurants. A couple of nice shops but the Crumbles are a couple of minutes if walking behind. Great for lazy sumner walks around this modern but interesting marina. Take a stroll down to the east end for the huge houses or up to the lock gates to watch the super yachts and fishing boats go in and out. There's a marina boat trip that's worthwhile if a little plain or a speedboat trip in the summer months up the coast. Definitely worth a visit.

We visit here frequently and enjoy the atmosphere of the marina and eateries around, we also watch the boats going through the lock out to sea and take a walk to the beach for a view of the sea. There are many restaurants and good coffee shops there, many with outside seating for the good weather.

Called in for a meal in one of the Italian restaurants good location and prompt food service. WWe ate indoors but on warmer days it would be good to be served outside

Plenty of restaurants to choose from, most of which have outside seating if the weather is good. Always nice to look at the boats.

Sat in one of the many restaurants at the marina enjoying coffee & sandwiches while watching the boating activities on the marina. Was tempted to see if there were any fishing trips but had grandchildren with me. We all enjoyed browsing in the shops. Had a thoroughly enjoyable time.

This is a good place to visit if you like boats and is surprising extensive. You really need nice weather to appreciate it but there is a variety of places to eat and drink, and a very nice gift shop selling household items. It is a typical modern marina development with a large variety of living accommodation surrounding it and different boat harbour areas.

Really enjoyed exploring this extensive impressive harbour with attractive apartments and water features. Plenty of ship and bridge movements while we were there. Also saw a large cruiser being moved on land by an enormous machine.

If you walk around the apartment grounds there are some nice fountains to see.

Good choice of reasonably priced cafes and restaurants, including a Harvester in the Marina complex.

The Sovereign Harbour Marina is one of the largest man made marinas in Europe (I am told) and still seems to be a 'best kept secret'. You probably do not know it exists till you find it somehow and get there. Great ambiance, waterfront coffee bars and restaurants a delight particularly in summer months. Sitting out, you could be anywhere in the world - looking out over the water and watching the boats in the harbour. Harbour is a big place with a north and south harbour joined at the 'waterfront' - lots of lovely walks and of course the sea close by as well. Also, has some interesting shops and a large retail park nearby. Nice to have free parking for a change. You have to envy the people living in the harbour must be really nice life style. Now well known by the locals - so give it a visit - you won't be disappointed.

The marina is a good place to have a look at the variety of pleasure craft moored within, ther are some little shops and restaurants for that cup of coffee or treat. it is a fair walk from the pier at eastbourne, but well worth the effort

Sovereign Harbour is one of the best things that ever happened to Eastbourne, although it is seriously under rated and very much under promoted by the Borough. Best take a view at the Sovereign Harbour Website for details, but if you visit Eastbourne, for what ever reason and in whatever Season, make sure you visit this location.

If you like Marina's and what goes with them including restaurants, entertainment and all nautical activities this Harbour is the place to visit. So please give it a try......................and also if you want a seaside waterfront location to relocate to, then best take a look at a property website!

Sovereign Harbour has a real cosmopolitan feel about it especially when the sun is shining! There are several good eating places along the front and a couple of really interesting shops to browse in. I love to sit and look at the boats and watch the world go by !

Sovereign Harbour is one of the better marinas but you pay the price for mooring. On land there are huge and probably expensive housing blocks which I do not consider esthetical highlights.
On the marina front one finds the usual shops and restaurants of which the Thai Marina used to be remarkable but crisis has lowered the atmosphere and quality.
Next to the marina you'll find a large car park, a movie theatre and the usual "shopping center" stores. Convenient if you are moored there but not worth a visit if on tour.

Just been down to the harbour with my husband and my dog, what a great place to walk your dog if you go past the lovely houses down onto the beach and today was beautiful, warm and sunny. There are pubs, places to eat and a supermarket.

Great place to visit while in Eastbourne or Bexhill. Various walks around four inner and one outer harbour with lots of floating Gin-Palaces to ogle at. There are a number of restaurants for all tastes - my favorite is Pablo's (Mediterranean cuisine). Better in good weather as most restaurants have al-fresco dinning.

It has a feel of being anywhere in Europe with all the boats and the apartments surrounding the marina. In the summer there is a boat trip around the whole development and well worth it.
The Thai restaurant is one of my favourites there. Intersting shops there as well.

Sovereign Harbour Marina is a very attractive area with beautiful boats and great restaurants and some delightful shops. A walk right round the Marina and along the beach can take an hour - but you can take a boat tour of the marina. Nearly all the restaurants have sitting out areas where you can watch the boats pass by - when the sun shines all the tables are full and the area has a really lovely buzz. Nearby there is a large cinema complex as well as Matalan, Asda, Boots, Next and all sorts of useful shops.

Had time to spare while car fitted. Morning after big storm hit the South East. This is nice place to watch people and yachts and swans in the Summer months.
I went back into town as it was still windy and ended up in the Farndale shopping centre. Pretty average and in need of an upgrade.
Eastbourne after a storm is really not the place to be.
However it is a relaxing place and said to have the longest hours of sunshine in England. This fact is disputed by another coastal town that I believe is Bognor Regis.

As you pass the cinema and make a right on the path and head towards the water you begin to absorb the relaxing atmosphere that is Eastbournes Sovereign harbour/marina.Pretty shops, marine side restaurants, chip shop and the Harvester all tempt you to stop for a while and endulge a little. if your'e lucky to grab a bench, take the time to enjoy the tripper boats taking visitors around the Harbour and the raising of the bridges to let the yachts and fishing boats pass through. The pathway (suitable for wheelchairs and mobility scooters) around the Marina willtake you to the Harbour Loch; a great place to stop and admire the boats coming in and out. This is also where you may happen to see the Lifeboat launch. When strolling (the best way to truly enjoy the view) it will take you no more than 20 mins from Harbour entrance to lochs. Then, if adventurous, carry on till the waters edge (another pleasant 10 mins maximum) where you can stand near, not on, the rocks at the harbour mouth and sea as far as the weather will allow you.The path becomes uneven at this end of the walk and is not suitable for wheelchairs although you can get pretty close. It is possible to view quite a way along the seafront on a clear day. If you can cope with a pebbly uneven surface for a 100yds.. continue on and make a right at the end and you can join the seafront walk which wil take you all along Eastbourne's beautiful seafont right up to the foot of Beachy Head (approx 6 miles).I love the harbour and it never fails to refresh and calm me no matter what time of year or weather conditions.I,m not sure if there is a rule about cycles on the route around the actual harbour area as i see many a cyclist enjoying the smooth pathways, but i do know there are signs asking you to not cycle around the shops and restaurants.
