Travelled down to eastbourne from Reading to meet up with my family to watch this fantastic show in an amazing hidden gem of a theatre. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only criticism would be that it was rather chilly inside that did affect how my elderly grandparents enjoyed the show - although it should be noted the heating was on, just its so big and old that maybe turn it on earlier to heat it up for longer?
Now the show....FANTASTIC with the stand out star of the show being the actress playing the role of Betty, played by Meghan Rayner. However the entire cast were brilliant and made for an enjoyable and feel good christmas experience. On til 4th Jan 2013 and highly recommend both the show and the theatre.

Went to see Miranda Hart with my daughter. It was amazing!!! It was her warm up tour and she was fab. The Theatre is very nostalgic. It is like going back in time. Unfortunately we were both sitting behind a pillar and struggled to see but in the interval we managed to move seats. We weren't near the front but we could see and hear everything very clearly. The seats were very comfortable and the staff were very friendly. I have now booked to go and see another show early in the New Year!!!

I grew up in eastbourne but had never been to the royal hippodrome theatre before. I visit four or five times a year to visit relatives and saw this was on over the festive period so booked Boxing Day. What a treat. The theatre is lovely. A lot of work has gone into restoration and more (and money) is needed. However, a really lovely experience, comfortable seats and there is a bar, everything like the Devonshire Park theatre up the road, but on a small scale. The Royal Hippodrome theatre group put on a fabulous show. Acting, singing, music, scenery, costumes etc., all very well done. We had a lovely time and will look out for shows that coincide with visits in future.

The Royal Hippodrome Theatre is in a great location close to the town centre with comfortable seating and a fabulous view of the stage from all locations. The staff are extremely friendly and attentive and happy to answer any questions you may have. There is a bar area serving hot, cold and alcoholic drinks and all areas of the theatre were clean and tidy.

This is a lovely venue to see a show and well worth a visit.

On 23rd November we went to see the Ultimate tribute to the Jersey Boys by the Sherry Baby's and what a good night we had. O.K. It might be cold in the theatre but there are plans to update this beautiful 130 year old theatre and I imagine that would include heating. The staff are very attentive and we were shown to our seats with a smile and a chat. There were hot drinks available as well as cold and alcoholic ones.
The show was wonderful and the cast worked really hard at involving the audience and encouraged us all to take photos and videos. . People were dancing in the rows and aisles and the staff really got involved.
It felt like a friend/family party. Please dont hesitate to visit this lovely little theatre you will be pleasantly surprised.

this theatre is in the process of being updated but is a lovely example of small old fashion style theatre built some 130 years ago I believe, worth a visit to see the style and the show. But the building is very cold especially when sitting for sometime watching a show. The show we saw was very good, staff were pleasant and helpful, a bit too cold to enjoy an ice-cream served usherette style, a hot cuppa would have gone down better in the interval

I have been to many Blake concerts but last nights concert at the Royal Hippodrome, Eastbourne was the best, for many reasons. My husband and I arrived to be met and greeted by three very friendly staff members at the entrance wishing both us and all the visitors arriving a lovely evening and that was just the beginning. We were given directions to our seat by a lovely lady with a most engaging smile and then we went to the bar for a little beverage pre show, again the staff were faultless, with smiles and perfect hospitality, nothing was too much trouble.
The acoustics in the theatre were excellent and Blake soon warmed the audience and the interaction was wonderful. The theatre had such a warm intimate feel and was most conducive to a truly spectacular evening. On a little more delicate observation but something which is so important, the toilets were spotless and my husband confirmed the same for this department.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish this little gem of a theatre every success as they have all the critical ingredients to ensure a lovely evening, something which many other theatres could learn from. Now lets hope that the residents of Eastbourne and visitors support the theatre and appreciate what a little gem they have nestled right in the heart of Eastbourne..
Many congratulations to all the wonderful staff.

Went to see Elkie Brooks at the theatre on Sat 19 October. My goodness what a voice. The show was fantastic. The ambience and the acoustics were amazing. Do not be deceived by the exterior appearance of the theatre. I understand that the front of house staff are all volunteers. This made for a really friendly welcome. Have booked in for another show already.

Lovely old building. There seems to be a lot more local shows than there used to be.
Just watch where you are seated-don´t get behind a pillar.

I have been twice now to this lovely Theatre. I have seen the seaside special and the Matt Monro show. Both evenings were a very enjoyable one
The Theatre has a good atmosphere to it.There is a bar there and you can even order drinks to your seat.
There are more shows that I plan to see there and would recommend to anyone who fancies a nice evening out.

Now partilaly restored, the venue offers Summer shows twice a week, with occasional 'specials' Good prices, especially for groups and popular with coach parties.

A wonderful evening was enjoyed with comedian, dancers, and singers. A really great show for a low price. I would go again if given the chance. Recommend it for a good laugh and singalong.

Have been to the Seaside special show plus several of the Saturday shows. All have been excellent. Well done to the RHT who are working so hard voluntarily to keep this theatre going.

Went to the Royal Hippodrome Theatre to watch the Summer Variety show. Very old theatre in need of work but the staff were really friendly. Great ambience - like the old Victorian days I imagine. Singing and dancing was fantastic particulalry liked the final number - could not get the song out of my head for the next few days. Comedian was good - close to the knuckle - but funny and the rest of the (older) audience seemed to like him too. All round good entertainment and worth the ticket price in my view.
