Wow just wow.

The Christmas cracker show was just such fun.

Great fun story full of well versed Christmas songs to get everyone toe tapping and singing.

Perfectly chosen and exceptional actors to keep the fun moving at a great pace to keep young and old very entertained.

It is truly a great production.

Visited the Hippodrome for the first time at the weekend to see the excellent Stringfever. We were all blown away by how beautiful it is inside and how close you are to the performers. Apparently it's all run by volunteers and I take my hat of to them for the excellent work they do. Will definitely be looking out for more shows to see in this beautiful venue.

What a magnificent building, which when you consider it is run mainly by volunteers, is credit to them all.
We were collected from our hotel by a volunteer in his car and taken back. We were shown to our seats by a volunteer. We were served ice cream by a volunteer and bought our programme from a volunteer. The interior of the theatre is spectacular and is being brought up todate by donations.
We were made to feel very welcome and part of the evenings entertainment. The show itself was called Magic in the Music and I would give it 10 out of 10.
It was such a good evening that we even donated money (voluntarily) to keep the place going.
If you live in Eastbourne and have not been to a show then shame on you. When its gone you will regret it.

The theatre, which is manned by volunteers, retains an air of late victorian genteelity. Comfortable seats allow one to it and enjoy the shows in comfort. Parking in the area can be difficult but not impossible

Went to see Joe Brown, he was great as always.
The theatre is much more attractive on the inside compared to the outside. It could do with a little TLC.
However lovely atmosphere, comfy seats, leg room and friendly staff.
Overall a great experience.

We celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary by watching Joe Brown at the Hippodrome. The theartre is very small so it felt really intimate. We felt very in touch with all the old time acts that must have performed there in the past.It is a beautiful building inside, just ignore the exterior. We were shown to our seat by a lovely lady. The toilets were very clean. We didn't use the bar so cannot comment on it, nor did we buy an ice cream but they were available should we have wanted one.We had a lovely evening and do hope to return soon.

Have visited this theatre twice now and both performances were excellent, well staged with good accoustics. Quite small theatre with a fairly basic bar but very friendly.

what a distinctive theatre I loved every second even the dusty smell added to the atmosphere I half expected Shakespeare himself to come on stage

The show was a pro-am production and was well performed by everyone. A good comedy/magician provided the links.
The theatre is a community project supported by local businesses and appears to be staffed by volunteers. They are trying to renovate and improve the place with limited funds. I wish them well in their endeavours.
If you are down that way go to a show there and lend them your support.

It was good to know that any profits were going to RNLI. I understand that most of the tasks are carried out by volunteers.

I cannot believe I have lived in Eastbourne for 46 years and never visited this theatre before last Saturday. A friend and I went to see a Portrait of Matt Monroe...when entering the theatre we were straight away asked what our seats were and shown which door to go through where we were greeted by another usher who showed us to our actual seats and then pointed out where the bar and the toilets were. We thoroughly enjoyed the show which was a mix of friendly banter and our favourite Matt Monroe songs and a delicious ice cream at half time. The staff are all volunteers who obviously love helping out and the venue is charming and the acoustics were good...we are already deciding what we are going to see there next.

The show was reasonable for the seaside. Don`t think that they would pass the first round on the X factor. However, the Hippodrome Theatre is 131 years old - well worth a visit - would have shined better with sow going back to the 50`s / 70`s. So we had a good £15 worth,

We visited when we stayed in Eastbourne. It is a lovely Theatre
and very comfortable. I guess it is very old as a few of the Theatres in Eastbourne are but there is always something going on

I went to see this play on Saturday 28th June and really enjoyed it. It was a murder mystery where you had to pick out the murderer after finding the clues in the play. The actors were really good, and I particularly liked the way they involved the audience in the plot. I didn't get the murderer right though, I thought it was Inspector Berkley.
I had been looking forward to seeing this play since my friend bought the tickets, and it didn't let me down. I was laughing all the way through.
I hope they do this play, or something like it again. It was a great night out!

I was fortunate to be part of a 100 strong choir Voices that performed at the Royal Hippodrome recently. It was a privilege to tread the boards of this beautiful old theatre where so many famous and great names from the past have appeared. The acoustics are excellent and the seating for the audience comfortable. Most of all this historic theatre is a focal point for theatrical entertainment in a seaside town. Like many small theatres all over the country it struggles to survive but thanks to its dedicated team of volunteers who tirelessly work towards ingenious ways to continue the restoration work and keep it afloat, hopefully it's future looks optimistic. By visiting and seeing a show, you will help secure the future of this beautiful old theatre.

Thoroughly enjoyed this romp of a play! It's the first play I have been to that involved the audience in the plot. It was great fun!

This play, being a pilot, was only on for the one night.......but I would go to see it again tomorrow. I got the chance to see new, up and coming actors play their debut performance on a theatre stage, along with more seasoned actors. The whole experience was really great, and I hope they do more of the same. I will certainly book MY ticket!

VERY WELL DONE!

The Royal Hippodrome Theatre in Eastbourne is one of the few venues that offers a top rate experience from BOTH sides of the curtain! I have been a visitor to this theatre, and found it to be great , both in the standard of productions there, and the whole theatre going experience.
Last night I directed over 100 members of VOICES choir on stage at the Royal Hippodrome, and it could not have been made easier for us to just get on and perform. Staff were incredibly helpful and polite, and the stage crew experienced and willing to go the extra mile to make the evening the huge success it was. In short, whether you are a theatre-goer or looking to put on a play/musical/recital etc, I recommend the Hippo without reserve......in fact, I actively encourage everyone to use the theatre, which will help with the ongoing restoration of this historic and much loved site.
Diana Terry, singer, actress and Director of VOICES choir.
