Holding Space – Mental Health Support for Families

Holding Space is an Eastbourne-based charity providing non-judgemental, peer-led support to parents and carers of children facing mental health challenges. Their aim is simple but powerful: to ensure no family feels alone or overwhelmed during one of the most difficult journeys a parent can face.

The charity creates safe spaces—both online and in person—for parents to talk, connect, and feel supported. From coffee mornings to one-to-one calls and structured intervention programmes, Holding Space equips families with the knowledge and emotional resilience needed to support their children more confidently at home.

Support includes:

  • Monthly coffee mornings (in-person and online)

  • One-to-one telephone support

  • Educational workshops and intervention programmes

  • Safe peer spaces for shared experience

  • Ongoing guidance and community signposting

Beyond their day-to-day support, the team at Holding Space is also working to reduce stigma around mental health by normalising conversation and building bridges between marginalised families and the wider community.

If you are supporting a child with mental health needs, or would like to be part of the charity’s work, you can contact them directly or visit their website for more information.
