We had a beautiful sunny day to walk along and soak up the atmosphere and take in the little shops, cafes and people watch.

Still charming, but some serious TLC is needed to bring it back to its former glory. The Victorian Cafe was wonderful.

OK, so it is a pier. And nothing else. There's an amusement arcade and you can buy food, drinks and gifts (all of dubious quality).

Sea-side Piers. There is something about them? I think, we as Brits, love walking up the pier. Get to the end & walk back again.
At Eastbourne, theres much more going on. With its Victorian entrance, you have, what makes the sea-side British. Buy do-nuts, candy floss, fish n chips, fudge, cockles, whelks, postcards, fridge- magnets. Have a beer, have tea & scones. Have a flutter in the arcades.
Must of all, enjoy the sea air & the view!

the pier is distinctly lacking in seats and shops and was not as good as brighton pier which was more interesting

This pier is lovely! It's a proper old style Victorian pier that hasnt been ruined by a loud funfair and cheap 'attractions'.

There's a lovely proper tea room that serves excellent afternoon tea (scones, clotted cream and strawberry conserve) with loose leaf tea in proper china. it's a bit pricey, but the views are totally worth it.

As with most piers, it's a little windswept and dilapidated but, contrary to other reviews, it's sturdy Victorian ironwork is in good condition, though in need of a lick of paint.

If you want shiny touristy stuff go to Blackpool pier; if it's traditional English charm then Eastbourne pier is just the ticket.

Oh, and the jellied eels look amazing!

Go down the pier, spend a few bob and support the traders. We dont want to lose the great tradition of the last few good piers in UK and this one is so nicely kept.

What can you say, it's a pier and as piers go, it is still just a pier. Short on attractions unless you want to gamble, drink or dance.

Although the pier is not as good as the one in Brighton, but it is good enough for a quiet place like eastbourne

Classic Victorian pier, much of it's original detail intact, perfect view of the town and sea on a beautiful sunny day

A nice place to get some good sea air and to be able to look back on Eastbourne. You can sit and have an ice cream part way down the pier or watch the fishing at the end.

We caught the end of a queen tribute band and stood in a convenient place to watch for free. A great performance!

Eastbourne Pier is just an average pier. The shops on it were closed during the day and there is a night club at the end of the pier which was open but we did not go into it. It is clean and kept well and looks nice with the lights on it at night. In fact the lights go down the promenade making it a nice place to walk at night.

just what a pier should be! Sticky rock, trinkets, bight fluffy toys, and a chance to look through the gaps in the planks!

You can’t go to Eastbourne without a walk along the pier! The decking seems to be showing its age, there seems to be a bit of movement, however it must be safe so trust it! There are a few kiosks selling your normal British seaside fayre, an arcade plus a camera obscura. Enjoy it just for the walk along it! A traditional seaside pier.

Managed to get parked close by and walked to the end and back stopping at a tea room half way along. Quite expensive actually.
The pier is very interesting and there is no charge...well done Eastbourne.

Pier looking a bit rickety but seems solid enough!! Has a small amusement arcade, sweet shop and gift shop, cafe (at beginning of pier). Pleasant views of Eastbourne/the sea from the end of the pier. Has a nightclub at the end of the pier, but really needs a cafe/bar/toilets at the end of the pier as most visitors we came across in Eastbourne would not use the nightclub facilities!! Also rides for small children would make this more family friendly.

This pier has I feel seen better days. It does what you want a pier to do 'take you out over the sea' but the attractions and facilities on it are rather limited and a bit on the dull side. Did take some good photographs of Eastbourne front from it though.

.A lovely stroll along the pier on a wonderfully hot day.
Not too energetic or challenging but a fine example of one of Britain’s piers

There is nothing to dislike about this pier its being kept in good order free deck chairs free to go on the pier not far to walk to thats if you are on the sea front but all of Eastbourne from the from to the town centre is flat quite a few places to eat plenty of gaming machines and rides

It could be a lovely pier but it is quite rundown and not much on there.I think the shops could be improved quite a lot,and the bar was very dark and dismal looking

It was such a lovely long walk down the pier and the views were good. There are interesting shops to see. Such a fete of engineering, how it stands the pounding of the sea and still looks good. Particularly pretty at night when it was all lit up.
