Eastbourne Pier

We arrived after a brisk walk and found a white and blue pier that was almost empty of visitors! This could be due to the windy/cool breezes or the fact that many of the shops were not open.
We headed to the end of the pier and noticed the rustic/dirty nature of some of the benches and tables as we walked! We finally found a table that was sheltered from the wind and it was clean. What else should a pier look like you ask? Correct!
The views were marvelous and we enjoyed our visit after all!

A lovely elegant pier olds worldly elegance. A slot machine arcade but not vulgar fun fare as you woul expect of a lesser resort. Eastbourne is very grand and let's hope it remains so. You can take great pics of Eastbourne from the pier.

Nice walk along the Front, beach seemed fairly clean. Obligatory walk out on Pier but all done pretty quickly. Pier seemed a little run down, in need of some brightening up and new ideas. Do a few simple things, put menus up re cafes, sell what it says on shop boards ("Sorry no Candy floss"). All that said, some good views so take the time to stroll out and back.

With so many piers along the coasts being closed, or for sale for £1, or battered to a skeleton by storms, its great to still see one that's thriving! A good old fashioned pier with fish and chips, amusement arcades, candy floss and a great view!

A lovely pier but my husband and I had hoped to read the Sunday papers here and there wasn't any sheltered seating apart from closed cafes.

We had a stroll round it at night, and it looks quite pretty all lit up.

Couldn't rate anything else as everywhere was shut, but it made for a pleasant end to the evening.

Lived here all my life till 8 yrs ago
Great quiet place and very central to get around- London Brighton all easy to get to from here
Bus service great from here
Rail service starts from here so go anywhere in uk from here!
Shopping good but if you want more exclusive stores I suggest you pop on the train to London- takes 1 1/2 hrs and your there!
Go in August time and airborne is on over the seafront- jets, old planes lots of attractions- is very busy so watch the crowds!

A pleasant stroll in the March sunshine on the pier, but it's desperately in need of restoration. Paint was peeling from most surfaces, and part of it was cordoned off for no apparent reason (safety I wonder...)? Eastbourne is not a poor town so it would be good to see some cash diverted towards keeping this traditional attraction maintained to a decent standard.

We took the 'sea air' a couple of times during our brief stay in Eastbourne and what better way than to walk the pier. Fresh air and great views up and down the coast.

Had a lovely time here, did some gaming and then had high tea along the Pier. The water was beyond freezing although it was winter time and being Australian I had to prove my love of the ocean by wading in knee deep. We got some chips and sat on the beach which was very pebbly. In had an enjoyable time here.

This pier is one of the few left in England. If you fancy walking all the way round it there are nice views out to sea and also a different view of Eastbourne seafront. There is an amusement arcade and a few shops, a tea room and a fish/chip restaurant. Some restoration is being undertaken, as clearly it is needed.

With 2 friends we went for a walk onto the pier at Eastbourne and nearly got blown off due to the blustery weather. It is a well kept and maintained Victorian pier and halfway along it is a tea room where we had a delightful cream tea for £3.95 made with leaves and not bags! We had a thoroughly pleasant time and I would recommend the cream tea.

Great view, fresh and a trip back into old times, place needs a bit of work and watch as you walk. A couple of amusement arcades and a few shops still open. Eastbourne was very busy and everyone really enjoyed the air show. We will be going back again next year and this time we will book a Hotel to make a weekend of it.

We have just returned from a stay at Eastbourne having last visited 25 years ago. It is very much as I remember it, a great promenade, plenty of hotels, eateries and B&B’s. But it is the cleanliness, the pier and the bandstand that I remember the most and I am so pleased to see that none of that has changed. We walked along the prom after breakfast on Saturday following the previous nights battering and despite it being mid October everything looked fine and dandy. The pavements were spotless, many of the properties look well maintained unlike Hastings seafront which we found to be hugely depressing! Delighted to see that the fantastic bandstand it to undergo renovation and is still being used. Very much hope to return one day to see it completed and watch a show, brilliant to see part of our heritage being restored.

Eastbourne was once thought of the South Coast's graveyard, the preserve of retirees with little to offer anyone else. However Eastbourne has come a long way and is a well kept resort with something to offer most people. While it does not offer the excitement of Brighton it has far better beaches, is cleaner and has a pleasant well managed promenade. The pier does not hold the thrill rides of its city neighbour and to be frank a lot more could be made of it. Equally on a warn day, it provides a pleasant sunny experience with views on one side out to the cliffs of Beechy Head and the busier parts of the beach. It is a great spot to relax and catch the sun and just to stroll. The pier could do a lot more for itself in terms of the customer experience and businesses on it although it has a bar and a few outlets, things seem to close early which is a shame and so you tend to end up back in the town if you want to get tea or something to eat and there are plenty of places to eat a short walk from the pier. Visitors may also be interested in visiting Beechy Head, the Seven Sisters country park and Paradise Park nearby close to Seaford. Visit date given is approximate as we are frequent visitors.

Seaside piers have a certain magic about them and Eastbourne pier is no exception. Apart from the great sea and coastal views, it has much to offer in its own right with shops to buy gifts and places to eat. One of the joys of an 'old fashioned' trip to the seaside.

The pier is a must to wonder round there is so much to see, little shops, and a good chip shop
which is a must, and there are lots of seats to sit and eat those chips on, and people watch, then
go and buy the odd souveneir of course.

A well preserved pier with a whole load of history. There are a number of shops selling various wares, such as seaside nick knacks, glass blowers, and a couple of cafeterias. At the end of the pier there is a concert room where various concerts are held throughout the year. The end of the pier is also a favourite spot for local Fishermen. There are plenty of seats if you just want to sit and ´people watch´.
