I can this pier has character which comes mostly from its historic feature which have NOT. Been modernised, some restoration was happening on our last visit yet only to the railing & a few of the walk planks the small number of shops on the pure include a scoop and buy for sweets & nut - they do a lovely fudge, a truly vintage experience can be hand in the Victoria tea room(nice glass circle building half way down doing cream teas & light lunches) there's a night club yet I can't comment either way as NOT my thing these days (gone 30yrs old...) the arcade does include update games as guitar hero & traditional penny push they have a younger play area also I believe has a ball pit area & such, the end of the pier does have fishing options yet you'd need to get details... In season there's a seafood stand, a little clothes retailer, traditional sourvenir seller & a glass blowers workshop with a viewing area all in all a nice little escape for a moment or three (not really a full afternoons escape yet still has a sweet feel

Eastbourne Pier is amongst the best I've visited with a choice of traditional eateries at the land end of the pier, followed by some quaint shops as you walk up it.
There are a couple of amusement arcades which are obligatory to keep that traditional pier feel as well as places to pick up an ice cream or fish 'n' chips.
My wife and I spent several hours enjoying a drink in the sunshine, relaxing, people-watching and enjoying the view back to land.
A few weeks after our visit we went to Southend Pier which really is a disgrace - visit Eastbourne Pier to see how it should be done BUT:
It is unnecessary to ban dogs. An overzealous council worker approached a German couple who didn't speak much English pretty much evicting them from the pier despite their dog being impeccably behaved - better so than some children!
Eastbourne Borough Council need to scrap this ban to make the pier an inclusive environment and the dog ban alone loses Eastbourne Pier the coveted fifth TripAdvisor 'blob'.
There are a couple of amusement arcades which are obligatory to keep that traditional pier feel as well as places to pick up an ice cream or fish 'n' chips.

Rainy days on the coast can pose a challenge to parents with young children. Eastbourne pier has a good sized soft play area plus ball pit. Very reasonable cost and no time limit for the day. There are some shops and food outlets on the pier. Yes it could do with some investment but we had fun and made the best of a very wet July day.

This is a fine example of a Victorian pier which I rate as one of the best in the country. Take in the sea breeze as you admire the view of Eastbourne's magnificent front. Some parts of the upper floors were out of bounds. I too am disapointed to see arcades on piers but I suppose they contribute to the upkeep. When you come off the pier turn right and down the steps where Taylors sea food will serve you an excellent cup of coffee, a good selection of sea food at very reasonable prices, whilst sat on the promenade with the pier as a back drop.

The Eastbourne Pier leads the traveler into the sea just like this town and it's surroundings open the gates to the world of green hills and blue sky with magical sunrises and sundowns. The Pier and the seaside path in Eastbourne show the distinctive feature of the area: romanticism, tranquillity and coolness. Eastbourne and the close to it located ways to Seven Sisters Cliffs with breathtaking views give people the feeling of being united with heaven and earth. One starts the walk by the Pier, follows the seaside line, goes ahead and wants more and more of the green and blue colourful natural settings. The place is ideal for walkers and nature lovers, recommended for people keen on active relaxaction looking for peaceful leisure.

We went on the Pier a few times mainly for something to do during the day in order to kill a bit of time. There isn't an awful lot on there, apart from Fish & Chips, Icecreams (which are both all right), a handbag shop/clothing shop, gift shops, an amusement arcade (toilets at the rear - including a disabled toilet. Disabled access is at the front only) and I think there is a disco at the back at night. As we went in June 2014, there was a few things closed. Maybe at other times of the year, they would be open ie a cafe at the front etc.Although I think I saw a cafe open towards the centre of the pier when we were there one day - this may be worth trying? It is a good way to take in the sea air and there are some good views but if it's windy, hold onto your hat!

You will need plenty of money for the amusements if you have kids in tow but it is a lovely place to sit and watch the world go by, eat icecream, rock or candyfloss and relive your childhood memories.

personally i don't like piers don't like walking over water it was cold and very windy when we was there and getting dark the shops are very old but my husband loved it he walked on the pier and under the pier. It needs a good revamp

On a cold and windy day the pier is a refuge.the bar/cafeteria is s lovely wateringhole.you will need plenty of money for the amusements if you have children I'm tow.summertime if it sunny the pier offers wonderful views.you can watch the anglers at the end of the pier or just take a quiet stroll taking in all the sights.it I'd relaxing

Strolling along Eastbourne Pier was a wonderful reminder of holidays with the family. Quintessential English seaside with the aroma of cotton candy and images of fish and chips in newspaper.

Pier is as it is, a lovely pier, but the majority of the shops are old-fashioned. The sweet shop needs a re-fit and is grubby and there is a clothes shop that seems to be for elderly ladies only. Glass workshop never seems to have any customers in it when I go there. It needs more pizazz and the business could make more of themselves for more business and to make the pier more interesting and more to the taste of more people. Also went to the cafe for a cream tea, and sat there for AGES whilst the staff had a lovely chat and ignored us. So we walked out after 6-7 minutes of waiting.

We arrived after a brisk walk and found a white and blue pier that was almost empty of visitors! This could be due to the windy/cool breezes or the fact that many of the shops were not open.
We headed to the end of the pier and noticed the rustic/dirty nature of some of the benches and tables as we walked! We finally found a table that was sheltered from the wind and it was clean. What else should a pier look like you ask? Correct!
The views were marvelous and we enjoyed our visit after all!

Lovely picturesque pier,very historical. Array of shops and comedy club at the end of the pier for older visitors. Able to hire a rod and fish from the pier

A lovely elegant pier olds worldly elegance. A slot machine arcade but not vulgar fun fare as you woul expect of a lesser resort. Eastbourne is very grand and let's hope it remains so. You can take great pics of Eastbourne from the pier.

Nice walk along the Front, beach seemed fairly clean. Obligatory walk out on Pier but all done pretty quickly. Pier seemed a little run down, in need of some brightening up and new ideas. Do a few simple things, put menus up re cafes, sell what it says on shop boards ("Sorry no Candy floss"). All that said, some good views so take the time to stroll out and back.

With so many piers along the coasts being closed, or for sale for £1, or battered to a skeleton by storms, its great to still see one that's thriving! A good old fashioned pier with fish and chips, amusement arcades, candy floss and a great view!

We had a stroll round it at night, and it looks quite pretty all lit up.
Couldn't rate anything else as everywhere was shut, but it made for a pleasant end to the evening.

Shopping good but if you want more exclusive stores I suggest you pop on the train to London- takes 1 1/2 hrs and your there!
Go in August time and airborne is on over the seafront- jets, old planes lots of attractions- is very busy so watch the crowds!

A pleasant stroll in the March sunshine on the pier, but it's desperately in need of restoration. Paint was peeling from most surfaces, and part of it was cordoned off for no apparent reason (safety I wonder...)? Eastbourne is not a poor town so it would be good to see some cash diverted towards keeping this traditional attraction maintained to a decent standard.

Never been to eastbourne before , was pleasantly surprised how lovely the area is , we went in February so not the best of weather expected , bit had a lovely week , sunny and cold even managed a walk along the beach . A lot of stuff closed but to be expected for time of year , pier disappointing , needs a good refurb bit overall a good holiday and would go back
