Beautiful pier I loved the artwork being shown at the moment, its such a sham about the fire damage. I did feel slightly uneasy when I looked through the glass how it was still held up but im sure its perfectly safe.

Eaastbourne Pier is one of my favourite spots in the UK.Every time I've been there I had an amazing time.I sat by the pier, listened to the waves while I was watching people go by.It's a lovely place,no matter it's sunny, windy or even foggy :)

This Pier is trying to recover from the devastating fire it had and work is currently continuing. This can be viewed through portholes on the decking.
Although there is a decent Tea-Rooms, Gift and Sweetshop, unless you want to go fishing off the end of it or frequent the Disco bar, (open on certain evenings) there is nothing to do.
Eastbourne should take a leaf out of Southwold's Pier and introduce an amusement arcade and Resturant/Cafe.

Beautiful victorian pier, perfect to enjoy a sunny day. The game zone is also a place to spend some time. Like taken out of a fairytale, it is beautiful!

I love piers, and Eastbourne's looks to be a good un.

It's a pity about the fire, but the restoration seems in hand.

When it's in full swing, I'm sure it's a great pier, especially with the camera obscura right at the end. I've not seen one of those on a pier before. Unfortunately it was shut when we went, but we might be back in the Summer and visit the pier again then.

Although the pier has been burnt it is interesting to see how they are getting along with the restoration. We took our little grandson to see how it was coming along ad he was fascinated to see the men cutting the metal work to get it down. Look forward to seeing it finished. At the moment you are unable to walk around the rest of the pier, but only because of the recent work.

Yes it had parts burnt down and was being repaired but most of the pier was still active. Enjoyed the English tea house. Tea and scones we enjoyed.

The July 2014 fire on Eastbourne Pier put it in the global spotlight. I sat on the beach and watched the flames consume the amusement arcade in the middle of the pier. Just five months on, the town and the pier owners have moved heaven and earth to re-open the pier and ensure it will be an even better place to visit. Why visit now? Two giant cranes are dismantling the steel structure of the burnt out arcade. Heavy cutting equipment is sawing through the steel, creating a free fireworks display every day of the week. Don't miss it!

I liked the peep holes that let visitors see inside the burnt part of the pier as its interesting to see or imagine how it must have been before. It is possible to still enjoy a lovely walk around the burnt part at the start and the rest of the Pier has amazing views of the beach and seafront especially at sunset.

This is a lovely pier- as pretty as Southwold. We feared it would be closed after the fire, but you can walk around the gutted shell at the shore-end and there are clever peep holes at adult and child levels so you can see the extent of the damage. The shops and cafes are still open for business and you can walk right to the end. So glad- you can't go to Eastbourne and not walk the pier! And its free!

You cannot go to a seaside with a Pier and not walk it. So we did and although sad to see the remnants of the fire, it was interesting to be able to peer in and see what stage things were at, it didn't spoil the walk.

The scenary and the town is absolutely beautiful. It has this air of old Britain, white boardwalk, old wooden buildings and very friendly people. And of course you have the English Canal right in front of you:-)

Great to be able to get onto the pier even though it has been partially destroyed by fire. Good to see the work in progress and be a part of it's history.

We walked around Eastbourne pier to view the damage caused by the awful fire. The viewing area shown as "work in progress" showed no work in progress at all. A massive lost opportunity by not having "donation" boxes available.

Probably not the best day to visit the pier nearly got blown off the end but nice to see it open again and work going on on a sunday so should not be too long before works compleated looking foward to it.

I'll start with the good in the fact that this once magnificent pier is still here, but sadly that's pretty much where it ends. The pier could be so much more, the Victorian original parts still remain but are either dilapidated and in need or a lick of paint of in the case of the camera obscura completely forgotten about and left stranded on top of the night club! And that's where it gets bad, there is a grotty night club on the end of the pier! So basically if you have no memories of this place as a kid you might struggle to see it's now well hidden charms. This pier like so many others could offer a lot more by just looking at other historic venues and how they restore and promote the places as a unique view of history not just a collection of badly thought out modifications. But the pier is still the best bit of Eastbourne... Which isn't saying that much
