Eastbourne Pier

Money is being invested in this recently acquired landmark. It is evident that the pier is undergoing repair and refurbishment. Shame all the roof pinnacles have been painted gold(ish) - a bit tacky. Glad The Victorian Tearooms have survived. Shame the fishing club facilities have disappeared. Will be interesting to see how plans progress and if reasonably priced, decent stalls, shops and attractions materialise. Too soon to say at the moment.

The Eastbourne Pier has been recovered after the fire and it looks very authentic. The sea view is stunning.

Good views. A few arcades with classic coin operated machines. In need of a little TLC though.

A trip to the seaside isn't complete without a stroll on the pier, and after the fire, Eastbourne pier was rebuilt quickly and well. There is a pub with good jazz music and food at the end of the pier, with outside tables where you can eat and drink while listening to music. There is a dedicated area for smokers (with a concrete floor rather than the usual wooden planks - someone has considered future fire safety!)
Take a look at the chandeliers in the Victorian Tea Rooms about half way down the pier... they are like nothing you will ever see elsewhere!

We enjoyed a walk along the pier. There is no entrance fee and you can walk outdoors along the wooden boards right to the end without having to go through amusement arcades. There are also plenty of seats and some picnic tables (although I don't think I would want to eat anything for fear of attracting sea gulls). There are some amusements and shops, a tea room, a jazz bar and a night club on the pier. It also provides one of the best views of Eastbourne sea front.

We went for a walk up the pier in the day time. There were nice views of Eastbourne from there. Plus all your standard pier entertainment, rock shops, souvenirs etc. It looked like a jazz and blues venue at the end which would have liked to come back to in the evening, but we were not staying that long.

I like old piers and Eastbourne's is one of the best. It's a grand structure containing some wonderful ironwork. I guess the local council are taking good care of it. Well done to them. It's also free!

I can imagine this Pier to be buzzing in the height of summer but it was quite a blustery day when we visited. Even so, it was just about warm enough to walk to the end and enjoy the view. We had a typical afternoon tea in the lovely tearooms with marvellous chandeliers and enjoyed the views!

It was free to enter it ,which was great news. Very clean and tidy. Lots of nice little shops to look in. From the fare end you get a great view of the whole of the front of Eastbourne. Well worth the walk along it.
