I recently visited Eastbourne Pier twice, the first time with my dear friend Derek and the second time with a group of French business students.
Eastbourne Pier has got to be one of the finest examples of Victorian Piers in existence. It boasts so many facilities that one could easily spend the entire day on there. They even have a glass blowing facility that has been trading for nearly 50 years. Well worth a visit - you won't be disappointed!

Eastbourne Pier was looking very smart with gold domes now. It is a very historic and lovely pier which has managed to stay standing all these years.

Pier was great good views back to Eastbourne. Fish and chip not up to it very greasy had better. Avoid and go to the Victorian tea room instead. Very good food and service.

Having never been to Eastbourne before a visit to the pier was a must on the only dry day we had during our 5 day stay and it was certainly worth it. Only a couple of shops were open, it was January after all, and what impressed us were the number of seats available, not just bench seats but the table and bench type that can be used for picnics, lovely. Also, there was no charge to go on the pier unlike others we have visited. The whole experience was most enjoyable if a little bracing in the wind but we would love to return during the summer months and stay longer to take it all in.

Obviously old and quite tatty, all the usual attractions, but nothing outstanding.

Hat's of to the ownwer! Despite being frustrated by 'local' councils who probably never been to the seafront, this pier is slowly becoming a great asset/attraction to Eastbourne. I luved the gold reflecting the sunshine.

This is the Eโ€™bourne pier and like many piers is a tourist attraction. Centrally located along the seafront it is a lovely pier and the โ€œgoldenโ€ domes set it off really well. Has activities and entertainment and telly nice attraction on the sea front.

Very traditional, and the pier architecture has a fairytale quality to it.

You can never go to the seaside without visiting the pier! Loved the โ€œbowlโ€ shape of the pier as you first walked along the traditional planks. Also the arrangement of the seating added to the ambiance. This then tapered into the traditional walkway but led onto a concrete base which had a smoking area, which is very unusual to find on piers in this country. Towards the end there were the amusements, a must on any pier.

Since the brutal fire in 2014 that consumed much of the decking and the ballroom which previously housed the ill-fated arcade machines (one of which caused the fire) the Pier is a shadow of its former self. I applaud the new private owner Sheik Abid Gulzar who also owns the Albany Hotel (as part of the Lions Hotel chain), who aims to restore the Pier to its former glory but this is taking its time. It will be an expensive undertaking. You can still see the ferocity of the fire from the melted lamp posts at the land end of the Pier as a stark reminder of how far it has come.

I'm not sure I personally like the repainting of the copper domes and the "lamp post lions" in Mr Gulzar's trademark Gold but it really is a small price to pay for someone stepping-up and taking care of such an iconic structure with so much history. After all, Piers are notoriously hard to make a profit from and history is no guarantee of future performance.

I recommend you pop along and take a look. It's free and hopefully year on year there will be more and more to do and see on this extraordinary historic structure. who doesn't love a pier?

Always a good place to go to when it's sunny. I love this place better than Brighton only for the reason that it's less crowded and peaceful.

It's 10 mins walk from the station and there are many restaurants around the pier. I loveeeeeeeeee everything about eastbourne and this is always my choice for staycation

A wide open space that welcomes the visitor to walk out to sea.. Great views of both Hastings and St Leonard's.
