This pier is just as I like it, with lots of penny operated machines etc, our very young grandaughters loved it, it wasw raining very hard but they still enjoyed

Nice wide walkway with several kiosks open for souvineers, sweets etc. Very windy and bitterly cold away from the shelter There is a jazz club/night club at the far end which we didn't enter.

Lovely coffee shop on the brand new pier. Pier of the year 2016 I think. Its huge. Beautifully done. Exhibition shows how it was all built. They let well behaved dogs in the coffee shop. My black lab poppy, always is. They were so friendly, you can even buy a big dog biscuit bone, while we had our tea, refused cake, as we were having fish n chips later! The tide was out, leaving sand, for pop to run n dig. She had such a lovely day, even though it was February, and the water was freezing!

Slightly out dated but I kind of like that. The open benched area (result of the fire) is lovely and let's you rest and enjoy the view. Classic bit of British culture, much nicer than Brighton pier in my opinion.

Lovely pier to walk along, and a great view of the front. The tea room in the middle is a bit dated, but has a certain charm. The amusements could do with a refurb, we tried a couple of the ones where you have to grab a tedy bear, but they didn't grab until the thing had gone back up - total swindle!

Freundlichst Karl-Heinz Weber

Always a must and free. Nice views of the town and recently re painted and looks good. Following the recent fire large open area replaced amusement arcade near entrance. Area is attractive with many picnic tables but signs say no food to be bought onto pier , assume to protect food outlets on pier , slightly disappointing but as entrance free can't really moan.

Visited on a chilly sunny February day. Great views of coastline and promenade from the pier. Great decorative features with the golden domes and lion heads. The restaurant on the pier looked inviting although we did not visit it. A couple of little souvenir shops to browse too.

The pier was ok but nothing compared to Brighton pier. The 2p pushing machines were generous though - regularly churning out 2p’s just dropping down which then became free cash to play with.

On a sunny day the pier would have been lovely to sit and enjoy but on the Saturday we were there it was raining all day and the sea was like sludge so was fairly miserable!

The fish & chip shop did good chips (& sausage for our sons) & the staff were very friendly.
