A fun time out with the grandchildren. However, not cheap! Unless you have a season pass and then it makes it worth while. Food can be a bit pricey picnic the way to go. The rides and wonderful round the lake and you can walk the circuit too which is terrific fun. the Play area is wonderfully put together. Foudn the glass cabinets with the miniature railways a little expensive a 20p a go when you have four grandchildren!!! but great fun.

It's only good for Young children, not a lot for older children or adults. The coffee shop is good for snacks. The train is great but need adult to sit with you.

I used to take my children here when they were younger ( in late teens now!) it was brilliant then and still is now. Family run business, dad and son still taking charge of the train as they did many years ago. Very reasonably priced. Everything is a bit bigger than the last time I was there but in a good way, bigger shop and bigger play areas. I went with my sister and 3 children ranging between 1-3 and they all loved it. Due to how hot it was on this particular day and their ages we only stayed 3 hours but this a easily a whole day out with slightly older children. It has a cafe with a range of food like sandwiches and jacket potatoes which all looked very nice. My sister enjoyed herself as well so hopefully we will go back for another visit soon!

Lots of playgrounds for the kids, good food selection, reasonably priced. We come here every month.

Unless you're prepared to pay for a multi-ride ticket, the one ride allowed for the standard ticket is poor value as it's quickly over. They have an attractive setting and it's still being developed.

My mother, aged 89 and me, aged 65, spent a lovely afternoon here last Friday. The sun was out, the children were having fun and mother and I walked through the grounds and by the lake after a ride on the railway! We had no idea when we bought the tickets that it was so tiny and there were no seats, but the driver/guard was so helpful and such fun and made sure we both were sitting as comfortably as possible. I haven't seen my mother laugh so much for ages. After walking through all those lovely grounds we stopped for sandwiches and tea before leaving. It was an absolutely delightful and unusual afternoon for both of us. I highly recommend for all ages, young and not so young!

EMSR is a great little attraction for young families with kids under 10 (and of course, the young at heart!). The surrounding parklands, lakes and greenery is calming and pretty, especially on a sunny day like on the day we went.

In addition to the main train attracting, there are decent play areas, mini maze and picnic grounds where kids have enough room to explore and roam. One can spend a 4-5hours here at a relaxed pace. Prices are reasonable, especially the annual tickets if you are planning to return.

Always really good for the kids and so reasonable, especially if you buy annual membership for under £14 and go as much as you want from the start of the school Easter Hols until the end of October. Open fully every day too.

I went here with my friend and her little sister and her friend, We decided we'd pay so that we could go on the train as many times as possible. The train was a brilliant as I remember it being as a kid and we definitely went on that as many times as possible. The play area was fun for the children but there were bees and wasps all over the play area so we didn't really stay there very long. All in all it was a great day out and we all thoroughly enjoyed it.

My family and I have season tickets which we renew each year. The family and staff who work here are friendly and accommodate requests. We took the 'school bear' for a visit and we were able to get pic taken sitting on the engine.
The main park has plenty of equipment for various ages, there is a separate under 5 area with little houses and other equipment. A couple of other play areas and a willow maze, big enough to get lost in but easy enough to send the bigger children in alone.
Toilets are clean.
Cafe serves good food at sensible prices.
Shop is well priced with plenty ofThomas merchandise, model railway stock including engines, variety of other souvenirs.
Take a bag of 20ps to drop in the slots to make various model railways work and a couple of ride one too.

This is a really lovely place to take young kids. It's somewhere for the whole family with a really well run tea shop, an extensive play park for little and big children, a toddler park with little huts in the woods (all pretty safe) and a wonderful place on a nice day to walk and enjoy family time. The railway is brilliant and the family run park is a must for any train enthusiast big or small. Great, well priced day out and if you are local the season ticket is brilliant value...

Visited EMSR so many times we bought a membership! So much fun even if you don't have a train ride. Lots of picnic space, clean facilities, children play for hours! I've always felt very safe here. Take lots of 20ps!

Our boys are now 7 & 9 and just about growing out of it but for the last 4 years this has been a regular haunt for us. Repeat visiting is very easy (we've been down weekend after weekend in the summer) due to its variety of things to do and great play park. I'd often take my 2 boys down, grab a book to read and leave them to it with my wife gets a few hours rest at home.
Yearly membership is a bargain!

Yearly membership is really cheap and allows you to purchase train rides for less than £2 each. So you only have to visit a few times to get your monies worth. Has a café, kids play area, nice walk around the lake. Just a nice way to pass a few hours with the kids.

This is must visit place if you are travelling with kids. Even we adults also enjoyed the train ride many times.

This is fun place for all age from baby to teen. It's good to take unlimited ride ticket as surly you will ride for more than once.

There is separate play area for under 5 which keeps them busy. There is Maze also which should be tried once. There is free car park, cafe, nice walking area so surly full fun day for everyone.

with its trains, pay areas and cafe we and the children had a lovely day out this summer. Whilst its a shame that you only get one train ride included in the entrance fee its still well worth a visit
