£33 for anyone over the age of 2? How can you possibly justify no child pricing? Take a packed lunch...

Now full disclosure, I'm not exactly a well travelled zoo enthusiast. Ive not been to many or even a decent amount of well known zoos BUT this review still stands not as a comparison to any previous establishments but on its own.

Drusillas Park is pretty brilliant for its size. You won't need large acres to walk around or roaring lions being enticed to lean against the fence whilst being fed because Drusillas is more then a zoo, it's a family friendly activity park.

You get to see the animals they do have (a fair amount of primates, an armadillo, a few camels, a farm yard which isn't quite on par with old McDonald's imaginary farm to which we've all had our own vision of how it looks from when we were young, 2 beautiful big cats and many more). You also have a MASS selection of automated electronics to admire which have sensors so it will know when to activate (theres so many in their maze!). A quaint water play area, fair ground/zoo themed rides, some of the coolest park playground equipment and a sensory room! Add all of this with a train that can take you around the middle of the park and a maze, you can't go wrong!

However, a few tweaks would make this place so much better because our experience wasn't all that it could be. For starters, the food... it was awful! We dined in the explorer's cafe as a lot of the decent food stalls were closed due to being a weekday (very unfair!) Our options were limited and we just wanted a tasty cooked meal. £50 later and we received 1 very over done, stale jacket potato with cheese and salad which we saw just being thrown from a bowl onto the plate. 1 katsu chicken which sounded good but you might as well have given me the frozen chicken steak instead of flash cooking it to the point of where if I had of had the frozen steak my meal would have been less moist. The rice being bland and the sauce tasting like a 17p tin of curry sauce from the cheapest supermarket. The kids Chicken nuggets and chips were on par with other child fun areas. What made this worse was for some reason the cafe workers decided to start putting barriers over our section. They reassured us not to rush but being hemmed in didn't exactly make us relax, this was between 3.30 and 4.30 PM. Food at Drusillas Park 0/10

And another change I would make would be on the website. It wouldn't allow me to book spark tickets online so as I result, I thought it was closed. We finally get around to that part of the park an hour before closing and spoke to a lovely man who said it is open daily and kindly allowed us to look inside before starting to close this room. The disappointment that we missed out on this for our daughters birthday treat was huge and I'm still upset now that we couldn't make our visit everything that we wanted.

Finally a member of staffs attitude. Now I have seen on your website you say your closing time is 6pm. Maybe a certain young blonde staff member who was escorting the Shetland ponies out through the car park this. My daughter saw her and got extremely excited so we asked if she could stroke them, it would have taken a minute at most. The ponies weren't moving in their enclosure and I wouldn't blame them, ironically the staff member who told us no because "the ponies have finished their work for the day" clearly wasn't bothered about them laying in their own filth all day in a puny 20x10 ft (at a generous guess) enclosure. But as soon as she has a chance to make a child's day that little bit better and show those beautiful creatures a bit of love before they are left alone all night, she decides against it. I understand the animals are out all day and we arrived with hours upon hours at the park and we never got a chance. Her response was covered in a snooty tone making her customer service a big fat ZERO. Service received in general was 8/10. One bad experience can take away more then 1 point.

It was a great day out kids loved every second of it spent most the day there from opening and spent out time going round to take I all the animals. Then we did did the paving for gold and the inflatable slide with the kids loved and follow that with the water park. Then a train ride and onto the fairground rides All in all it was great and we got annual passes so will be going back again

A fantastic family day out - went there on a Tuesday and it was quite busy - recommend going in the afternoon if you can, it quieted down a lot. Loads of things for the kids to do, the water play area was fantastic and the coffee shop food was very good albeit quite expensive. Parking is free. Gift shop was very good also. Can’t recommend it enough, baby was happy at the end of the day. More activities for a 1 year old than we thought and a lot of animals to see. Only thing we didn’t like is that there were certain things only open on weekends - then surely charge people less on weekdays to make up for it? Tickets were more expensive at the door (£30)

Facilities are very good, loads for the kids to do - play parks, splash pad, educational displays throughout the park. There's also good options for food, although some stalls are only open on certain days. Good for wheelchair accessibility.

Always a great time here, hence the membership which may seem costly for a family but represents great value if you visit frequently. Love the zoo walk, plenty of gorgeous creatures to see up close. The animal enclosures look beautifully kept and designed to closely mirror natural habitats. The animals look super happy and healthy. Decent selection of rides enjoyable from toddler up to teenager but it's not a theme park so don't expect this to be the main attraction. There's a fun maze, a fantastic play area and a large artificially grassed picnic area surrounded by coffee shops, eateries, kiosks... Gold members can scale a muti-walled climbing tower, pan for gold, hunt for fossils and earn little plastic dinosaurs for doing so. You can pay additional if you're not a gold member for these. All in all, highly recommended day out or, if you're local, a membership can be a great investment. It certainly entertains all our kids aged 2, 6, and 12.

Lovely zoo, animals generally seem content and well looked after. Spent 4-5 hours there. It could do with covered picnic area tho, considering British weather.. As Marwell Zoo does. Expensive but worth it.

Good collection of different animals, and route well designed to guide you through without too many dead ends or double-backing. Member of staff sent us long way round to picnic area.

The zoo is interactive and big with an incredible variety of animals, from sheep to parrotlets to sloths to anteaters!
At 4pm the penguins are fed and it was enjoyable to watch. Throughout, a Drusilla's staff member gave us a talk on the penguins. We learnt that one is named Monster Munch.

The play area is also large and great for kids of all ages, although as a 20 year old kid I was slightly heartbroken that the trampoline was strictly for young children only. Their picnic area nearby was good too - lots of space and seating.

The cafe opposite the gift shop at the front is also a pleasant addition, they make a good hot chocolate. ☕️

I hadn't been to Drusillas since I was in secondary school (gotta love school trips!)... and I have to say I am so impressed with Drusilla's Park. It is accessible for all, largely sized, and despite whether you're a 5 year old child or an adult like myself, there's always something fun to do.

ps. I recommend taking a look at the owls. They look so wise.
