I have had the pleasure of eating in many restaurants around the world and I can honestly say none of them are better than cru,the food is fantastic as is the massive wine list (the merlot was nice)the staff could not be more helpful as with the owners Jordon and hardy.

The restaurant prides itself on its wines (which are excellent) - but that should not detract from the quality of the food. The menu is interesting and varied, with complex flavours beautifully presented. My scallops coated in Saki were superb. I had taken guests who are extremely well travelled and they were very impressed too.
Prices are not the cheapest, but for the quality, ambiance and service, it is worth every penny!

Had an overnight stay in Eastbourne and booked a table at Cru. So glad that we did.
Followed googlemaps from the town centre and was a bit surprised to literally stumble across it (could have walked past it).
Headed down the steps into Cru and was immediately hit by the buzzy atmosphere. It was heaving but atmospheric (i think some people were in for just drinks and others for food but could be mistaken).
Service from the moment we arrived was second to none. Very attentive (but not OTT), and all staff were really friendly.
Then there was the food. Amazing .. the choice was great (enough to not be sure what to pick but not overwhelming). Everything was delicious and presented beautifully. We had the gnocchi and scallops to start. The duck and guinea fowl for main and then cheese/chocolate slice. Could not fault anything and would love to return.
Totally recommend Cru to anyone... and hope to return!

What a knockout meal we had at Cru. The reviews on here are no exaggeration. Cru is an absolute top notch location for dining.
I came here for a birthday celebration with my step-dad and we all thoroughly enjoyed our food, every little part of it. The bread and oil at the start. The gratin and blinis as a starter and the nut roast, wild mushroom & potato pave and battered cod for main. And then the desserts, oh my! The crumble was outstanding.
And to top it off, the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive and couldn't do enough for us.
This place has shot up to be my favourite place in Eastbourne. And if you haven't been yet, you have to try it. You will not be disappointed.

Escalopes to die for! For big eaters I would not recommend as they would be disappointed.<br>Good atmosphere... Lovely wine! Will be returning for more for special occasion... (the prices are special too :D)

The food here is terrific and the owners, Hardy and Jordan, give great, friendly service. If you are interested in wine, Hardy is really knowledgeable and will advise you what to drink with your meal..

Great food, bit pricey but probably the highest quality of bistro food your find in eastbourne! Waiter was great but took ages for food to come out, as in waiting an hour for starter and a hour for main. Would defo recommend though!

It was either a night in the very stuffy dining room of the grand surrounded by overly attentive penguins or a night enjoying good wine @ easy to accept prices alongside a selection of small plates. You don't need to tapas, we did.<br><br>As steaks were consumed by real men on tables next to us, we sat and ate delicate plates of fish alongside a fine portion of fries.<br><br>It's the atmosphere of Cru that makes it special. Intimate, warm and created with care. They care and you'll feel this throughout your lunch, dinner, wine tasting or as we were valentines.

This is a top review. Roses everywhere. Space between each table. Excellent staff. Excellent food. Congratulations to the management and staff of Cru - exactly what I was hoping for. My wife and I felt special. Thank you and we will definitely book again 😄😄😄

Following a booking snafu at a local hotel we ended up looking for an alternative venue in Eastbourne to celebrate a friend’s birthday. We needed a restaurant that had a varied menu for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans and could cater for our large group.
After perusing the menu and speaking to the very helpful Jordan at the restaurant we decided to book and I’m so pleased that we did. The atmosphere was brilliant, the music was great, and the food was just fantastic. We spoke to the restaurant owner, who is a bit of a wine aficionado. He ran through some great affordable wines to match our preferences and food choices. I didn’t know if this smaller and more intimate restaurant would cope with our large party but the whole experience was really special and faultless. It’s clear that Cru has to be one of the best restaurants in Town. We’ll be heading back soon for some more spectacular food and wine.

Having been earlier in the day to collect a lovely bottle of English sparkling wine (Bolney), I was overwhelmed when the owner (hardy) came over with such passion, enthusiasm and knowledge about wine.
So we decided to return for dinner. We had a wonderful tuna ceviche, short rib and locally hand picked scallops for starter.
For main we had 2 phenomenally moist wagyu beef burger with a beautiful crispy crab wonton, and 2 tender,juicy and perfectly cooked fillet steaks.
The service was fantastic and environment welcoming. We had such a good evening we were the last people to leave!

We visited Eastbourne for personal reasons and stayed over a few nights. Looking for a place to eat we came across Cru. We called to book a table, which was available. When arriving at the restarant we noticed it was in the basement, to be entered by the stairs in front. Funny, but nice. Entering the atmosphere appeared nice and friendly. After a friendly welcome we were guided to our table, on high seats. We were handed over the menu (& winelist) and served water. This looked like a winebar, combined with nice food. Very very interesting! The winelist was a full folder of many pages, per country. I ordered a Spanish Riocha Joves. For dinner we were served Scallops, finely prepared an tasting great, Red Mullet, served on a dish with many additional veggies. Pleased very well. We also ordered a few Fillet Steaks, with garlic sauce. What a high quality of meat, so soft. Obtained by a month of extra hanging after purchase of the already high standard od meat. It was grilled shortly, as it should be. We will need to stay over closer by next time, to prevent needing to drive and be able to experience the qualities of this establishment more profound. I read some other comments complaining about small dishes an no beer choice..., this is not a pub. It was busy, in a pleasant way. We will return.

Went there for our anniversary dinner, the waiter was very friendly and lovely and had the BEST steak I've ever had by far. Will definitely be returning here.
