It's not difficult to shine with such little opposition. This is a great location and a cosy warm space. Unfortunately, Anema e core failed to capitalise.
The food gets a 6.5/10; humdrum. The starters were very poor. Deep fried (frozen) whitebait had a strange taste and the (frozen) deep fired calamari was bland and rubbery. The beef carpaccio was a lesson in uninspiring. The main course risotto main course was very good. The choice of desserts was poor and again, lacking in imagination.
The service was good, although the bill was so long in coming, we eventually went to the till directly.
More than anything though, the decor was almost tragic. A signal red paint on the walls had been thrown on, with paint finding its way on to the UPVC door frame. A tiled dado had not been finished properly with bits of tile missing in the corners and edges. Sockets in the skylights. Huh?

Popped in one lunchtime while house hunting in Eastbourne having seen the reviews on here and thinking we would suss out what will become one of our local eateries. Well we were very pleased we did. Good pizza is very hard to find outside Italy in our experience (but then we do live in Italy part of the year). Anema e Core deliver pizza worthy of the name. Service from everyone we came across was on the ball, efficient, friendly and with a consistent excellent attitude. Excellent value from the fixed price too: One soup, one prawn cocktail with plenty of big fat juicy prawns, and two excellent pizzas later all washed down with very nice house red and white wine we left very satisfied and replete. This was our first trip here with the restaurant under new management. It was absolutely delightful with first class food and service. We received a lovely warm welcome from all the staff and nothing was too much trouble. The restaurant is family run with the parents cooking and daughter, her partner and one other serving. It is excellent value for the set lunch and our bottle of house red was really good- no cheap taste here. My pasta pomodoro was the best I have ever had. We are so pleased to have discovered this traditional family run Italian restaurant in the heart of Eastbourne and highly recommend it. We will definitely be back! MIchaela and Bob Hurcomb

My Dad is from Naples and the pizza here is very good and authentic. Ask for mozzarella di bufala pizza. I had one with mushrooms and my daughter had mozzarella di bufala and tomato pizza. Delicious. Best pizza in Eastbourne.

Always amazing, home-cooked, traditional Italian food and superb, friendly service. Always clean. Cannot find fault with this restaurant. I would highly recommend eating here to anyone who enjoys Italian, and I always look forward to eating here myself. They are usually busy so it's advisable to book.

I have visited this restaurant many times and have always loved it. The food is very nice and the staff is great. It is very warm and welcoming. I tried risotto, pasta and pizzas and all fantastic, but pizza is my favorite dish. I recommend
