It was just before Christmas when I was dragging our reluctant 11 year old round the shops buying last minute Christmas gifts etc. As he is always asking questions about what I do in Eastbourne I thought what better way than to show him. I asked if he wanted to go to Towner and he said what's that? With that I said come on you will see. We walked in and his excitement was much higher than expected. He loved the building and all the things in the reception area. We ventured through the exhibits and he was loving every minute of it. Now any time we are going to Eastbourne he asks if we can stop by the Towner! Well worth a visit and you will be amazed just what wonders are waiting for you!

St Wilfrid's Hospice was there for my Auntie when she fought a brain tumor. This was two years ago, but every day, as I see the stunning new premises of St Wilfrid's Hospice on my way to work I am reminded of the importance of such a place in our community. The work of the charity and the nurses is fantastic, and in an era where footballers et al are seen as heroes, it is those who help others that are the real heroes. We are an extremely close family and my Auntie had the love and support of us all - it was this, combined with the support of the Hospice that helped us. My Auntie sadly lost the fight and we miss her so much, every single day. The nurses kept us informed every step of the way, and, once we knew it was a fight she could not win, the support and care for the hospice was appreciated. I would hate it for anyone to have to go through this, but when places like St Wilfrid's Hospice exist, it really does help.
