"The Best In Town?"

I don't know about you, but when I look for a particular local service I haven't used before - be it a carpenter, a restaurant, an hotel, an estate agent or whatever else, I like to know what other people think about that business before I make a decision to use them.

After all, there are plenty of similar businesses to choose from and I want to make sure I'm getting the best value for my money.

Call me a sceptic if you like, but from experience, I've found that sometimes the business 'advert', or 'website' doesn't always tell the whole story!

I'd like to know what their present or previous customers' unbiased opinions are.

But isn't that true of all of us? Given the opportunity, would we not like a hairdresser to be highly recommended to us from a regular client before we just 'walked in' to book an appointment? Do we not read all the hotel reviews on Trip Advisor before we book our summer holiday?

I took my wife out to dinner at A Tasca Portuguese Restaurant in Occupation Road, Corby on Sunday night, because I knew I was likely to get "a very good meal in pleasant surroundings with very attentive service".

I 'knew' because I had read about 20 recent reviews (all very positive), and some even considered it to be "by far the best restaurant in town".

It turns out that A Tasca has over 950 similar reviews from satisfied customers. And sure enough, we had a wonderful evening and an excellent meal. And yes, I'll be adding my review very shortly!

But I probably wouldn't have gone there had I not read so many good things about this restaurant. After all, surely they can't all be wrong can they?

I've read some great reviews lately about 'Golden Tanning', 'Ali's Indian Restaurant', and 'Clean As You Like'.

Those reviews convince me as a shopper that they are good businesses that really care and know how to look after their customers.

So if you have a favourite business in Corby, (or maybe you've had a bad experience?), please do us all a BIG favour and let us all know about it too!

Of course, the more people that write a review, the more advice you'll be getting too!

You can write your short business review here on The Best of Corby website:   Scroll to and click the "Recommend a Business" banner (the one with the lady shouting into her megaphone!).

It's dead easy - just write a couple of short sentences to say 'why you think they're so good and what you particularly like about them' - (2 minutes - simples!)

And on behalf of all Corby residents, thank you for taking the time to share your experiences!
