My second visit to Il Palazzo, this time taking friends to celebrate a birthday. The food was simply fantastic. Amazing starters including baked crab claws (Granchio al forno), Fritto Misto (fried squid, whitebait and courgette) and great pate. For mains we tried four different pasta dishes, bolognese, meatballs, garden pasta and amatriciana. All were excellent.
In addition, the staff are fantastic, very friendly and welcoming.A wonderful restaurant just near the theatre, bus station etc. Highly recommended.

We eat here a lot. Always very good food, great service and reasonable prices. Been as a couple, with our teenage children, with a big group of friends - it's our "go to" place. Never lets you down and any day of the week there's a great atmosphere.

Been to this restaurant many times. Food is fantastic every time. The real plus is the fantastic service from the very warm and friendly manager and staff. They build long term friendships with their customers and are always so glad to welcome them back each time. Wonderful place

We came on Friday. Were a group of 12 and got seated no problem. Service was exceptional from the very beginning. Staff were very friendly and eager to please. Food was lovely. Everyone was happy with their order.

This restaurant is perfect for post theatre matinee meal. I am a disabled lady who uses a wheelchair. The restaurant has a ramp for accessibility. The service and the food was amazing. Highly recommend a visit and will be going back. I had the lamb shank. It was so tender and came of the bone.

The best Italian restaurant in Chelmsford hands down. Food is on another level coupled by a marvellous atmosphere and great service. Very reasonable prices and very friendly staff. Would definitely come again and recommend everyone to give it a try 😍

Great restaurant. Good, fresh food. Gets very busy when the theatre has a production on, so book or prepare to be disappointed. Let the staff know when you need to leave and they will do their best to help you.

A very warm welcome after we popped in for a last minute dinner. Great menu and solid, hearty Italian food - the Puttanesca in particular was fantastic. Would definitely return and recommend.

Visited this lovely restaurant we all love on Friday 12th January 24 for lunch. The attentive waiter noticed I was wearing a Birthday Badge & was so complimentary as were the rest of the guys when they knew all wished me a Happy Birthday. The food was impeccable as always perfectly freshly cooked. We were too full for desert but … I was overwhelmed when the lovely waiter brought a desert with a candle & 4 spoons for us & all the Restaurant sang & they played Birthday Music. What a lovely touch. We as a family rate this lovely family restaurant 200%. Thank you so very much guys for making me feel so special. Many many thanks.

We had a fantastic meal here for a friend's birthday. We were impressed by the range of dishes and the specials, and were aided by the helpful and courteous staff.
This was defintely a more authentic experience than the generic Italian chains which can dominate the high street so, from starters through mains to dessert the restaurant produces hugh quality food that we would love to try again.

Wanted somewhere near theatre on Wed lunchtime. This fitted the bill. Good menu choice . No children's menu but 2 children shared a starter then made a big inroad into carbonara and Bolognese . I asked for the rest to be boxed up to take away as they were rated. Not a problem . I had an ok risotto and himself schnitzel which was also ok . Wine was good, house wine red served at right temperature . Prompt friendly service . Good loo.

The food here is lovely, very authentic and cooked to perfection. The staff go above and beyond to make sure that everything is ok and that you are happy. I highly recommend coming to this restaurant 5* from me

Three friends for lunch - we meet here a couple of times a year. We had a nice table. Servers were prompt and friendly. However have to say food was abysmal. We all had a variety of chicken pasta dishes. Menu said chicken strips. But it was small pieces of diced chicken (clearly frozen). It was just mush. It looked and tasted awful. I mentioned to our waiter and was told their supplier had let them down. Maybe better to advise people before they order??
