The hotel staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. The facilities are superb, and the pool mind-boggling.
The room was well appointed, with a very comfortable bed. I was also delighted to find the bath was of sufficient length that I could actually recline fully in it, something that's pretty rare these days, I find.
The evening meal was very good, and reasonably priced - I had an excellent fillet steak that was cooked to perfection.. Again, friendly and helpful waiting staff.
The only downsides were the (admittedly free) wifi slowing to a dead halt during the course of the evening, and the fact that the bar had three televisions showing some football match or other, with the volume set to just below World War Three, and it was a tad difficult to find a spot where I could enjoy a reasonably quiet pint.
Notwithstanding the above minor gripes (the wifi did behave itself later on in the evening), I can thoroughly recommend this hotel

Booked a night as a birthday treat for my partner. Got talked into a upgrade by receptionist - essentially £20 for Sky TV. 'Softer beds and bigger room' apparently. Can't compare beds of course - but it was comfortable - but bigger was entirely pointless ...unless you wanted to dance a jig.

The 'bigger' part was a large open space with a couch on one wall and mirror on the opposite. A table might be a good idea, especially if you fancy room service. Wouldn't advise it though as, apart from cold (cooling), the food was pretty lame. Expensive but lame ....and really comfortable chomping away on the bed. Larger room? Waste of space. Literally. Waste of money. Definitely.

Add to all that that room was too warm, making it difficult to sleep, and pretty noisy, won't be staying again.

Only positive was leisure facilities of pool, sauna,, steam room etc. Good stuff.

recently went on a murder mystery night at the village hotel in Bury, the entertainment was top notch, so was the food till I was served my sweet, with a side serving of an ant! Disgusting! The waitress asked what was wrong with my sweet, I said it's got ant on it! Her reply was, would like another? What on earth was she thinking, I was disgusted I could not even talk, then she just walked away. When we left for the night there was no-one around to complain to, so just left the hotel, I will be contacting them in the future to discuss further!

I purchased a Groupon offer for a Murder mystery night at the Village hotel, I paid £15 a person for a 3 course meal and the entertainment, the full price was £25. To be fair at £25 it was reasonable value and over all a pretty good night was had by all. Food was excellent and the murder mystery players put on a good show and it was a good laugh. Once the meal is finished and the murder solved there was a disco after till 1am. I am no party animal so we stayed for a bit and moved over to the bar which was quieter but still a lovely place to chill and digest food. Beer selection in there was good as well.

Great

Nice hotel in a quiet location. Sunday carvery buffet in the restaurant was really good and breakfast was also very good and tasty. Our boys loved the breakfast. Pool was lovely and warm and we had a lovely time here and will definitely be back. The room was a little warm so can imagine it may be more of an issue in the summer but we did have a window we could open. Would have been nice to have a fridge in the room but that is a minor comment.

Stayed here as part of Newmarket coach trip to Blackpool. Excellent food, good sized room and very comfortable. Pity about having to drag cases up so many steps, and being so isolated in a business park.

Booked this hotel on a whim and have to say we where pleasantly surprised by our stay here. The hotel has plenty to offer - a pub, restaurant, starbucks, leisure facilities all under one roof with free car parking (which is a novelty these days) our room was lovely and large, well equipped and made for an excellent stay even if it was a little dark! but if your looking for mood lighting it has it in buckets - One hint if you get a room with a ghostly whistle just run the shower for a minute or two and it goes away!
The staff where friendly, helpful and couldn't do enough for you.
All in all a great stay at a very good price we will certainly be using this hotel again

I stayed here on business for two nights and was very impressed with the leisure facilities - namely a big pool, sauna, steam room and gym. The bar was also nice, and the staff friendly. My room was generally good and the bed comfortable although the bathroom was very basic. On the whole a pleasant experience and good value.

The Village Hotel team always go the extra mile to ensure customers are completely satisfied with their experience and this is something we have seen first hand, as a local small charity it is essential we receive the best value with the best service levels to help ensure we deliver our objectives and the Village do just that. Nothing is to much trouble for the team and Sam Gibbs is amazing and has helped our charity raise the profile of Annabelle's Challenge in the local community. The Best of Bury, well done!

The village hotel have supported us in a great way over the last few months with our local charity Annabelle's Challenge. They are a great hotel and we are pleased to have them supporting us. We have held quite a few events at the hotel recently and the staff were great, very helpful and friendly, the facilities are great, found it easy to adapt them to our requirements. The event staff are fantastic and always deliver what they promise. Can't thank them enough and looking forward to the coming months working with them. X

I recently visited Village Hotel Bury for thebestofbury's Big Bury Business Expo. The facilities at this local hotel are great and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms can be adapted to suit any occasion- I also attended a charity party in the same room and it looked completely different! I would highly recommend Village Hotel Bury.

I finally got the GET UP AND GO to use my Gym membership last week and went to Cilla's Pilates class on Wednesday evening. I really enjoyed it, I'd not done exercise for ages and the class was a real mix of all levels so I didn't feel out of place at all. Booking for this week too! Highly recommend this fun and vibrant class.

I have just visited for a meeting. This is a great location and there's always a welcoming environment. The added bonus of there being a Starbucks to get my coffee fix is always a winner. A great place for meetings and events alike. Staff always happy to help.

My husband, one year old baby boy and I stayed at this hotel this past weekend and my only regret about this hotel is that I did not know about it sooner. The service we received there surpassed all my expectations. The hotel itself is really great. It is so lovely to have so many facilities under one roof to enjoy.

If you are looking for an affordable hotel that will make you feel very welcome this is the place for you.

Nice hotel, very friendly and helpful staff. stayed for a weekend and really enjoyed it. only 2 things that bothered me was Sunday morning breakfast, there was a que to get in due to too many guests, so had to wait 45 mins. by the time i got to sit down to eat it was nearly 10.30am. At 10.30am on the dot the staff pack everything away, they need to be a bit considerate and wait till guests have finished taking all their food. Also the other thing is we booked some treatments for Sunday 05/10/2014 and the person who was supposed to do them for us called in sick, so the hotel could not do these for us, so this was a big let down, the staff did not offer any money off or anything for not being able to do the treatments.

Over the years my husband & I have stayed at many Village hotels throughout the UK during our annual tours. This year we booked this property as our first stop after flying into Manchester from the US. The staff were kind enough to let us check into our room a bit early, and we paid extra, as we sometimes do, to upgrade to the Upper Deck which supposedly has extra amenities & comfort. At first we were put in a tiny room, that would be smaller than any of the rooms we have stayed, even with a regular non-upgraded booking, so we asked to be put in a larger room and were moved across the hall into a more sizable accommodation. My husband was exhausted after the international flight, and tried to get some rest. As the weather has become cooler, and the room itself was a bit cold, I tried to raise the temp on the thermostat and switched on the heater. But to no avail. After trying everything I could think to try, I contacted reception who sent a maintenance woman, but she could not make it work either. So she went to get another maintenance worker, and he tried for awhile, but had no success. So he went to get yet another worker who tried for some time, but no luck. Eventually he left and returned with a space heater and said it would have to do. In the meantime I was trying to do some work at the desk, but the desk lamp did not work. So another maintenance man tried to fix it, but he finally realized that it was a burned out bulb, so left to bring another one. Needless to say, my husband got no rest. At night, even though we had turned off the space heater, the room was almost unbearably warm. There is a fan in the room, and that helped a bit, but whenever we opened the window, cigarette smoke came wafting into the room because the hotel allows smokers to congregate outside just beneath where our room was located. So sleeping was a problem. Another issue is that the toilet continues to run for long periods of time unless you go in and shake the handle around, and that only does the trick sometimes, not always. So we tried to always keep the bathroom door shut, but still, it was annoying. On our second evening (of a two-day stay), I decided to use the Bose speaker/docking system with my ipod which is supposedly one of the big perks of the Upper Deck upgrade. But it did not work either. I again contacted reception, and they sent one of their staff to assist. He could not make it work, and said it is broken, but that he could not change it out since it is bolted to the desk. He suggested we just watch TV and listen to the music on it -- which is the last thing I was interested in doing. I do not know whether the TV works, as I don't watch TV, and definitely have no interest in programming, nor in the music it offers. Finally, the desk chair is wobbly and uncomfortable, and the fixtures in the room are poorly thought-out with regards to their locations. One always has to squeeze through a tiny space between the end of the bed and the desk chair. The lay-out could be changed more sensibly with little trouble, but apparently no one has thought to rearrange things to make the space more livable & comfortable. As I said, the staff, and all the maintenance crew members were personable (even when unable to fix the numerous room faults). On the second night of our stay, there was throbbing disco music, which went on for a few hours, and that was definitely tiresome, as it continued at least until 1AM. We dined both nights at the hotel, and the staff were lovely, and the food nice as well. But I have to say, if the Village is going to continue to heavily promote the Upper Deck rooms and charge extra for them as they do, then they really should pay attention to the features they claim to offer, and provide what they say they will for the added expense. I have to say, in spite of the kind & attentive staff (which of course is important and appreciated), the experience of the room is a huge disappointment, and a bit of a sad start to our tour.

This hotel is excellent. Staff cannot do enough for you. Restaurant food is excellent as is the bar food. I will definitely go again. There is a large car park and other places are within walking distance should you want to go out.

Easy to find by car.. Has free parking which is a great start, very friendly staff and we didn't have to wait to be checked in and got all the information we needed.

Very confusing layout of the hotel was so hard to find our room and get around the hotel. Even after few times we where walking allover the place.

Hallways and rooms could do with some upgrade feels dated. Rooms don't have the same quality feel like so many hotels out there. Even low budge hotels are more upgraded.

TV was large but standard channels no extra free view channels and picture was blurry.

Room is large we had a large double with a sofa which is nice. Bathroom is also large but again its dated. Old style Toliet sink and shower.

If you gonna spend a few days and a lot of time in the room I would look for another hotel.

My daughter and i spent a relaxing spa day with afternoon tea and treatment here on sunday. The facilities and treatment were excellent having been several times before we knew what to expect. The afternoon tea was disappointing on this o ccasion coffee lukewarm scone stale with runny cream andwiches basic however the day as a whole for the travelzoo offer was good value and i would certainly recommend the treatments

in the room, the handle for the toilet was cut off in length to make it fit as they obviously hadn't got the right one to fit, The sealant around the shower/batch was dirty and mouldy. The TV only had 3 Sky sports channels, Sky News and C4. No other normal terrestrial channels for local news. Won't be going back to this Village Hotel.

I get to stay here on business every week!

The hotel is a bit tired, but it's convenient and honest - clean as well. Reception has two champions - Anastasia and Beth - both friendly but prepared to go out of their way to make your stay comfortable. Watch out for the summer! Rooms get very hot and there is no air con. Superb pool and leisure facilities.
