I have stayed in several Village Resort hotels and this was by far the best presented room. The hotel was undergoing some refurbishment work during my stay, which did necessitate a rather awkward diversion route to my room, but it was a minor inconvenience on an otherwise fabulous trip.

Another excellent stay at the Village, Bury. Stayed on first floor room, which was superb, with huge Smart tv, very comfortable double bed and gorgeous long settee. Again, the staff were excellent and went above and beyond the call of duty on Monday morning when they arranged for some takeaway breakfast and tea for my coach trip back to Northern Ireland. Super friendly staff, who genuinely went out of their way to cater for me.

Stayed here over the 1st May Bank Holiday. There was a BH deal on for 2 nights B&B with Dinner on first night included- very good value.
Self check-in system sort of worked, but needed staff intervention because we wanted 2 room keys- please add this to the check-in system.
We paid a little more to be upgraded to a 'Upper Deck' room- I'm not sure it's worth it. The room was in the separate building block (linked by an internal bridge). This made it quiet, but with the current refurb in the main building it's a trek from reception.
The room looked like it had been recently refurbed but with some lack of attention to detail, the lock to the bathroom wasn't fitted, the toilet seat was wonky, no hooks in the bathroom, no place to dry swimwear, no bath (replaced by trendy walk in shower which soaks the bathroom door and floor), no place to plug in your phone or tablet to the TV to watch movies etc.
The included dinner was good from a limited menu. Breakfast was ok, some food items felt a bit low budget.
Special mention for the excellent free WIFI, probably the fastest I've come across.
The hotel was busy during our stay due to a number of functions and events. It was impossible to find a quieter area to chat to friends.
Pool and Gym was as good as usual.

I tend to alternate between staying here and the Norton Grange Hotel. After this visit to the Village, I think it's returned to be my preferred choice.

Fantastic treatments, the therapist are all so professional and friendly, Sophie is my personal favourite, but they are all really good.the only down side is the relax room as its small and not that relaxing, there are not enough beds and it's a bit claustrophobic. But the treatments are great!!!

My wife is in a wheelchair and when we checked in found that they had no record of of our confirmed reservation with Expedia for a wheelchair accessible room. They did not have a wheelchair accessible room left at check in time so they upgraded us to a superior room and gave us a complimentary breakfast. The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly in the way they dealt with this. Well done Village Hotel Bury.

Make sure if you paid before arrival print a copy - tried to bill me 2x - family room pull out couch not very good kids ended up in bed with us. Breakfast was nice until even with copy of payments tried to charge me again after I sorted the room payments out - swimming pool not open until 10 I think - as we had to check out and back on the road by 11 kids where disappointed- location ok

Good clean hotel, friendly staff. Some noise from a wedding party. We enjoyed the food, upper deck room location. We have stayed in village hotels in other places and the quality of service is always excellent.

A short break away with my partner. Every need was catered for, the room was stunning, the food was plentiful and delicious. one tiny tiny issue was the view from our room that had tyres floating in the stream next to the hotel, however this isn't the hotels problem and did not in the slightest devalue out stay. We loved every second of it and will definitely be returning. Thank you to the Village hotel!

Good pool and gym but everything else is just very average. I use this hotel for business because it's close to my office and therefore very convenient. The village hotel in Ashton ( a short trip up the M60) is a little better but only just.

I wrote an email directly to the hotel following my stay 10 days ago, but have since heard nothing back and this has prompted me to write the review. We had upgraded to an upper deck room, and checked in at 3pm. When we arrived into the room there were crumbs on the floor on the far side of the bed, and also on the bedside table. The spa treatments we had were lovely, could not fault the staff. Pool facilities also good. Went back up to our room and found that the glasses in the bathroom were not too clean, and the seals on the Strathmore water bottles were broken. There was also not a Bose speaker dock as stated as included in the upgrade. Dinner was great and the staff were lovely, although forgot our mayonnaise (asked twice, was fine without). The next morning the cleaners were in the next room at 9.30am, with the music on loudly in the room and banging around. When we checked out the following morning, reception was too busy to discuss our issues with the receptionist; hence sending the email afterwards... Disappointed that have not had a reply. Despite these issues the stay overall was pleasant and relaxing.

Friendly welcome on reception. Family room was good size. Great large TV. Asked for extra milk but never received. Very disappointed with sofa bed, first appearance it looked fine, but never seen such a thin pathetic mattress that went on top of the frame. My 12 year old couldn't sleep on it so I don't know how an adult would cope. We did tell receptionist on checking out what a very poor night sleep he'd had which had affected us all. Room furnishings looking bit worn & need updating. Positive was lovely pool & spa area, very nice & clean. We had drink in bar which staff were friendly but wine which was supposed to be Chardonnay, definitely wasn't Chardonnay, think they need to alter the wine list & description, so as to be clearer & honest. Had been to this hotel before but bit disappointed this time round.

To start off the staff were really nice and helpful. Did have problems with the room keys not working not only once but twice. Room was really clean with some nice touches. Had everything you need big tv with full sky package even with harry potter and a huge bed to watch it all on. Ended up spending 6hrs watching harry potter. Cool decor. Nice food in the restaurant. Would stay again

We visited on a Saturday, each of the function rooms was busy with a wedding etc meaning a lot of people using the facilities all at the same time. We didn't really get chance to use any of the leisure facilities due to the amount of time it took to check in and get sorted out. The upper deck room was nice.

Booked during the January Sale and got a great deal. Hotel staff were friendly and efficient. Hotel was clean and warm. Pool was clean and well staffed. Didn't eat at the hotel purely because we wanted to go into town on the evening. Enjoyed the stay and would return.

If you are looking for an affordable hotel outside of Manchester, with relatively easy links back into the city, this is a great hotel. The Upper Deck rooms are worth the extra for as you get a huge bed, huge TV and some lovely bedding. The leisure facilities are first class. A large gym with all the equipment and weights that you could want - there's even a separate ladies gym and two class aerobic rooms. The pool, sauna, hot tubs and steam room are well presented, and a welcome place to relax after a good workout.

The selection of foods in the bar isn't the best, but the quality is perfectly adequate. The restaurant has a slightly upper market selection of food available, but it's priced accordingly. Beware that sometimes service is added - sometimes it's not, and in my opinion, 10% isn't justified when the service levels aren't amazing.

Overall, the front of house team are very professional, very friendly and helpful. The bar staff often don't seem interested and it appears that customer service isn't important to them - a simple "I'll be with you in a minute" often goes a long way as opposed to ignoring you totally!

this was one of if not the best hotel i have ever stayed in lovely food and very clean comfortable rooms, but the most special thing for me was the staff in particular the one girl on reception last thursday evening, as i am well in to my senior years and struggle with a lot of things you can imagine how stressful it is to attend family special occasions especially in a big city, this girl noticed my nerves and came to my aid she went out of her way to explain she knew the venue to which i was attending and she arranged a lovely taxi to pick me up not only from the hotel but back again afterwards she even alerted me when it was time, she talked to me and reassured me nothing was to much trouble, the sad thing is i did not get her full name i just remember her first name was lauren i do hope the hotel can find this girl and say thank you as i have taken my daughters time to help me do this and i thought staff like this did not exist anymore so i will be returning to this hotel and bringing my friends with me.

Only spent one night after attending a christening. Stayed in an upper deck room, very clean, comfortable and well decorated. The staff were very efficient and friendly from reception to the restaurant. Having stayed in Village hotels previously we knew what to expect and were not disappointed.

Booked for one night but was disappointed with the room decor. So dim and dingy. Some road noise from the nearby motorway but no too bad. Lovely big television though. Didn't like the menu or prices for evening meal so eat at the Fayre and Square. Breakfast though was great, they obviously have a good chef.

Having stayed here for a few days I can't praise it enough. Although a few slight niggles.

The food was great and had a great deal to choose from. I do need to mention that there was a young lady that was on shift both 21st and 22nd had the most amazing service skills. Sadly I've forgotten her name. But did help in locating a great seat to allow myself to Skype my family.

The fitness facility's provided great equipment and clean pool for some well needed relaxation. I managed to attend a Zumba class. WOW!!!! This class was hot hot hot and provided plenty of smiles. Well done.

The room was spacious and very clean and comfortable. I was in the upper deck rooms and had Sky TV available but could only seem to get itv on it. Although close to the motorway you couldn't hear it.

Without a doubt I would stay here again

We have stayed in many of the Village Hotels mainly because they have good deals on offer, wonderful food and facilities.
We have on a few occasions complained or gave our reviews on a few problems we have found.
Mainly stained mattresses and bad housekeeping but this Hotel was wonderful the mattress was brand new and the room was spotless.
Well done top marks to the housekeeping team.

As usual all the leisure facilities was first class and food good and plentiful.
Good nights sleep and a fantastic fan in the room too.
Lovely view of the river from our room.
50" TV and WIFI in the room.
Would recommend this Hotel and will be back.
I just noticed one thing and i will mention it so that it can be corrected, the fire extinguishers in the hall ways were very dusty and could do with a wipe over.

More reviews to follow of this chain as we have many booked so we can see more parts of our country and hope that we find the next one as good as this.
