The staff here are second to none. They are so polite - particularly with the grannies - no wonder they love it. A very good business plan means they are always busy but equally always have tables. Worth having your chips here.

Heard a lot of good reviews about the Olympus in the past few months, finally went there for the first time yesterday. The restaurant is much bigger than expected. It is a proper restaurant setting with modern furnishing, rather than like a fish & chips cafe. The majority of the customers are pensioners and that explains the pensioners offer on the menu. The food is very nice, though portion size is quite small. The service is fast and the staff are all very friendly.

Restaurant is extremely expensive and staff aren't very helpful.

Take out is ok. chips usually need a couple more minutes in the fryer - always a bit raw.

Been eating at this restaurant with work friends for over three years, with over 100 visits, usually at lunch times, I have seen first hand the investment Tasos Pattichis, the owner, has put into the business. The restaurant now has a newly built orangery, a small outside eating area and a grand piano which is played by a pianist on certain days. The majority of its clientèle are OAP's and there are pensioner specials available. The service is fast and friendly, the meals are generally small in size, very high quality but quite expensive.

Best fish and chips by far. Would highly recommend treating yourself and giving it a try.

I dine in this genuinely authentic fish restaurant virtually every time I visit the Octagon Theatre. Maybe there are other places worth trying but why would I look elsewhere, it is great and very convenient for the theatre! The (family) owners have spent a small fortune in upgrading the entire establishment and have even included a lovely outdoor terrace leading off from the conservatory area of the restaurant. This is, I am sure, especially welcome to the remaining smoking population who don't have to street walk with their ciggies! Just so long as the anti-ash brigade don't start tut tutting when summer comes ..! Special mention to the toilet facilities which are some of the most hygenic I have come across. Virtually hands-free everything!
A warm welcome is given to everyone - I know, I watched the staff treat everyone who walked through the door in the same fashion. The food is very very good and exactly as described - fresh, tasty, straightforward and good value. The service is speedy and professional. You can have wine if you wish but frankly a pot of tea is perfect with traditional fish and chips. They have also retained their take away business but kept the entrance separate which is much better for those who want a restaurant atmosphere. I can say nothing more than to urge anyone who has not yet tried Olympus to head on down there asap!

I regularly meet a group of theatre going friends at the Olympus for an early dinner. The restaurant is spacious and well appointed. We meet at 6pm and are always in good time for a 7.30pm curtain up around the corner at the Octagon.

The staff are friendly and efficient and the food is so much more than fish and chips if that is what you prefer. Personally I think that the haddock and chips and a glass of house white for £8 is just fab!

As my title says this is without a doubt the best place to eat Fish and Chips in Bolton town centre. The moment you enter the door you are greeeted, then seated and treated. fantastic service, many more expensive establishments could learn abour customer service from these guys.

The food is decent though I've had better fish and chips nearer the coast. The decor is very smart and clean and the service friendly and prompt. Only real quibble is cost versus portion size. Only open in the day, closes about 6.

Visited Olympus yesterday, it's not the same as was, yes the staff as always friendly, helpful, and yes it was clean, but food served on small plates, whatever you do don't order the chicken tikka sandwich because it's not chicken tikka. It's gone a bit pricey. The pensioners size is the same as a normal size.

This is a fish and chip restaurant and so not the place to come if you want a roulade or something fancy but that shouldn't put you off, just be aware that as a restaurant the clue is in the name. The heart of the menu is fish, chips and peas with a slice of bread and a pot of tea or cup of coffee. This is with a choice of cod, haddock, plaice, hake or salmon, with relatively little difference in the price and it's possible to ask for white or brown bread. There are alternaitves, including a range of sandwiches, jacket potatoes with varied fillings, cornish pasties, burgers and so on. This is pretty much the menu of a fairly tarditional fish and chip shop and around the corner there is a take away section that is just that. If you decide to opt for the basic meal of fish and chips there is also the pensioners deal available for a couple of pounds less and the 'Whopper's range that includes fish up to 16oz for nearly £20 at the time of writing. There is a wide range of extra dishes available from steak and kidney pie and cod's roe to just gravy or curry.
Drinks include a variety of hot and cold drinks with a limited range of wines, beers and spirits.
The restaurant itself is bright and airy, with plenty of room around most of the tables. This is not one of those places where you feel a little too close to the neighbouring table and the decor is tasteful, clean and well maintained with comfortable seating. We opted for one of the standard meals with cod and a pot of tea. The service was incredibly fast and the tea arrived shortly after I did having placed my order at the counter! Following on no more than 2-3 minutes behind was our food and this is possibly the fastest service we've experienced (they have a 7-10 minute service promise). Portion size was reasonable for the money and for two people at the time of writing the two meals came to just under £17. If you order tea for two people be aware that it will come in a larger pot, rather than providing two pots and it will come with additional hot water,
The staff were very attentive, helpful and friendly and there is an effort here to make your visit an enjoyable one. This is certainly a place to come for a good basic meal whatever your age though your options will be fairly limited if you are vegetarian and severely so if you are vegan. You may only feel happy with a jacket potato and beans. We didn't ask whether the cheese used was vegetarian or what the chips are prepared in.
We wouldn't hesitate to go back and it's especially nice to drop in after a day spent shopping in Bolton town centre as well as coming here for a nice simple meal out in large part because of the quality of service and the interior layout. Group bookings are available with additional meal pricing options.

This is what we call a great Chippy. Down to earth Honest Fish and Chip menu that is Excellent. The staff greet you as you come in, there service is first class and although slightly dearer than a normal Chippy it is well worth the little extra. We dine here frequently.

This is fish and chips in luxury: from being show to your table, the surroundings, the food and the helping on of your coat at the end of your meal. The fish and chips are superb, as is the moussaka (it is run by Greeks, hence the name) and my son recommends the burger and chips. My wife likes the tea and I enjoyed the coffee. And, when nature called, they are some of the best facilities I've seen. A truly delightful experience.

I love this place for the excellent friendly staff and welcome you get when you arrive. It is a place I have been visiting for a long time and the service never fails to amaze. The food is excellent and good value for money and I would thoroughly recommend it to others!

I am not a fish eater but those I go with do eat fish and they say it is one of the nicest around, for people who do not wish to eat fish then there is other choices on the menu!

One of these days I will try there new breakfasts they advertise!

never been before until this week and will certainly go again. Food good, good value, but the service is delightful. The wait staff actually smile and help! Nothing is too much - even helped me put my coat on. Make sure you leave a tip - they're worth it. This is the way British restaurants should operate!!

I am a regular at this fish and chip restaurant.

Probably the best fish and chips in the world, (I do not exaggerate) served in surroundings that would not look out of place in a five star hotel restaurant, with service to match!

The owner makes customer experience a full time occupation and is very concerned to get the fine details right, quality of food, ambiance and service. He has recently extended, what was already a great restaurant to include an orangery with a little garden patio area. He has also installed a fantastic sound system to give music to create the right mood.

Apart from the traditional fish and chips, they also serve salads, moussaka, jacket potatoes, desserts, breakfasts and others. I really enjoyed my steamed to order salmon with chunky golden chips and mushy peas, presented beautifully. My husband had the traditional cod and chips and peas. Both were as usual, delicious. A refreshing change from the mass produced stuff and indifferent service that you cannot get away from in the usual British dining experience......total price with tea, bread and butter and an ice cream sundae, under £20.

From the greeting at the door to the fact that they help you on with your coat at the end, this place cannot be beaten......

We went to Olympus as part of the National Holiday package and was very pleasantly surprised by the welcome, the food and the entertainment (40's theme all the staff and singers were in war time apparel). The three course meal was excellent. Starter Mushroom soup (which i thought I couldnt eat as it usually has cream added but not this time) really tasty, Fish chips and mushy peas all yummy and cooked to perfection (not easy when 100 people to feed at once).

The only small critisism was the bar - under staffed and a queue for 20 minutes to just reach the bar - then 15 more minutes for the drink to be brought to our table.

Really excellent fish & chips, every time. I'm not basing my review on one visit, but on many many visits. Every time the service is exceptional & the food fantastic value for money. My family & I have a bet every time we visit - who can get their coats on quick enough to outsmart the excellent restarant manager who ALWAYS try's to hold our coats for us!! Love the Olympus (don't forget to buy their fab home made tartare sauce to take home- best I've tasted!)
