Stayed here for a night, found all the staff to be really friendly and welcoming, service fantastic, restaurant food really tasty and reasonable with a varied menu, some areas of the hotel are a little dated but everything is functional and comfortable. Special mention for Irene on the bar and Bruna on reception who were attentive and very helpful.

Went today with my wife for a lovely afternoon tea, it was a birthday present from our granddaughter. The table service was 1st class from a lovely lady called Irene and we both thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. There was that much to eat neither of us managed to finish it, so Irene gave us both a plastic container box to take away with us all that was left....Thanks Irene

May stay at the mercure hotel was a decent experience, rooms were standard and breakfast was great. Lydia in particular was very attentive and approachable when arriving for breakfast.👍🏽

Good location. Rooms are clean. All the staff, including Julie from conferencing were very friendly. The gym did need a good clean and was dirty even at 7am at opening time and there were lots of used wipes on the floor.

We visited for a business event organised by Zoe and Tracie.
We were impressed by the flexible packages offered for weddings and funerals including bespoke options. As a Celebrant, I would feel confident working with this venue. Lovely staff always go out there way to make you feel very welcome they gave us the bridal suite even though we didn't married at there property I would recommend this place to anyone I know the food is really nice drinks are reasonable priced and will always be going there for other advents

Took a light lunch in the reception bar and Irene could not do enough for us. From the moment we walked into the bar until she presented us with the bill her attention to detail wad first class. A totally committed employee hard to find in today's environment !

I've actually never had a better Hotel experience than this before and yes........I have stayed in other hotels, lots of them.
Everything was clean and well presented as you'd expect but what made this experience so much better than any other Hotel I have stayed at was the Hospitality from Jimmy and his staff. Jimmy made sure we had everything we ever needed and went above and beyond to help us at all hours of the day.
I'd like to thank Jimmy for his Hospitality and also give thanks to Irene, Lydia, James, Kim and all the other staff that helped to make our stay such an enjoyable experience, including the unsung heroes of the cleaning, catering and reception staff. It is a testiment to Jimmy of how well this Hotel is run, like a well oiled machine.

Irene, was a brilliant very friendly host and our afternoon tea was perfect. Will definitely be coming back. Afternoon tea was so filling we had to take some home, cakes were delicious. Irene kept us filled up with tea and the little vase of fresh flowers was great.

The hotel is in the middle of nowhere. If you don't have a car, you're stuck.
On the plus side, the staff were very helpful and pleasant, even in the face of some difficult customers.
The food was adequate. I can say nothing more about it!

What I appreciate - The bar staff! In particular Katie and James are very friendly and attentive. They make it a great experience for the customer.

Amazing Staff!!! Zoe, and Bruna from reception are a credit. All staff are very welcoming and efficient. They go above and beyond for their guests! I am always more than pleased when visiting this hotel 😁

I stayed here on the 1st April - as an away supporter for the Reading Bolton match..
Great hotel but what made my visit was the superb service and attentiveness from one individual- a lovely lady who was working the bar area early on in the morning.
Sorry didn’t catch her name but please go back and check the Rota…she is to be commended fully - absolute gem.

The hotel is pleasant, the staff are very good. The bedrooms are very nice, larger than expected and comfortable especially at this price point. The bistro menus has improved greatly since the new menu was introduced in the Autumn.
