Lovely hotel, great staff. Nice pool and restaurant. The staff are very helpful and the little village behind main hotel was a nice surprise.

What a lovely staff, and nice spa, fun little village of shops and quaint little bar. Breakfast buffet was very nice but be sure to book the day ahead to save some cash. We were treated very well and the staff went out of their way to make sure the stay was great. The spa's customer service was amazing, they really are wonderful people.

I am a business traveller and stay in hotels pretty much every week. I have read some negative reviews on here and to be fair are little be unjustified. the hotel yes could do with smartening up a bit. My room (executive) was good, it was clean bed was comfy everything was as it should be. the gym & spa was really good and you can do alot worse for the money elsewhere. i stayed at the hotel for dinner and ordered a steack (rare) which again was as it should. however when i said to the chap behind the bar about the seasoned veg side order, could he tell me what they are? his response was "why are you fussy with vegetables", my answer was "are you paying for them" no!. we overcome the trival vegatable issue and all was good in the world, did i leave any gratuity...... NOP. Would i stay there again, yes i think i would.

Hotel was really nice, wish we could have stayed longer than the one night.

Food was nice, maybe a little pricey but plenty off it, Bar staff really good.

Woken at 5am with a rogue fire alarm 3 times which wasn't pleasant especially as my daughter had an important football game that morning !!!

Bit more customer care from reception would have been appreciated.

Loved this hotel....the spa facilities are fantastic, it makes an ordinary hotel stay so much better. This is the second time we have stayed here and it will certainly not be our last. The staff are so helpful and nothing seems to be too much trouble. The hotel has character, comfort and great facilties.....who could ask for more?

Helpful receptionists on both arrival and departure. Breakfast good, but waiter on the second day forgot to tell us that the main course had changed to self-service, which wasted time.

Third time at this hotel. The spa is great and hotel location is fab for a weekend away. The rooms are clean although a little dated. Heard the food isn't great so didn't eat in the restaurant. Many nice places to eat in Bolton and lots of places to go walking nearby with the mutt (who can also stay!).

Decent Room price and breakfast OK.
Drinks prices very expensive.
Residents Bar extremely poor service.
No instructions at check in with directions of restaurants or Resident Bar conditions.

Great place! Only drawbacks were a temporary loss of cold water one morning and two minor maintenance-related issues (one light bulb not working, missing toilet paper holder which was replaced next day). Otherwise a great place! Lovely room and great staff.

Staying for a nearby wedding. Was hoping to use what looked like a very nice pool but didn't get the time. Room was clean, good size with sofa and desk, bed was comfortable, free wifi worked for the most part. Room décor was a little dated, shower water temperature was inconsistent, hot in the evening but struggled in the morning. Staff were very helpful with my requests for assistance. Grounds were very nice and green, didn't get chance to enjoy them first-hand. Taxis are expensive.

Stayed the night before and the night of my wedding (we did not get married on the premises). The bridal suite (Lancaster) was a little dated and could really do with brightening up, but I could not fault the services of the staff nor the quality of the food in the restaurant (NOT the pub). Lovely surroundings and a very pleasant stay overall.

Really enjoyed a spa day with my mum. I have just booked a best friend one too. Lovely treatments. lunch and a hot pool with open air so you can see the countryside and breath in the fresh air.

Very nice, would like a shower without having to stand in a bath though, overall pleasant stay.

The third time I have stopped and as with the last stays it was brilliant. Could not fault anything apart from the noisy corridors to and from the rooms but the hotel staff, rooms, food and facilities out way any down sides. Will be bringing the wife!

Highs and lows seems to be a common theme at this hotel for us. room 105 was distinctly musty and damp smelling - so much so the cleaner left the window open every day. good job it was a mild autumn. leisure centre now takes U16's in the evenings if they're well behaved - worked perfectly for us. room next door kept us awake one of the nights until the early hours with unaccompanied children shouting and screaming.
