Came for a wedding and wow what a beautiful venue. A converted church makes any event here a special one. Really striking. Food was good and bar service was good too (usually wait ages to be served at a wedding).

I stayed here for one night on a very rainy Sunday in September for work with 3 colleagues. The staff were all very friendly, but the room was pretty tired, and not super clean either - a few hairs remained in the bathroom, and there was no plughole in the sink. Breakfast was fine, but nothing to write home about. I would also have appreciated there being some decaff tea - not necessarily in the room, but at least behind the bar when we sat down for drinks.

Food and service excellent thank you. Rooms a bit too tired and bed too soft so awoke with back ache...

I stayed in this place at the weekend. Lovely place and staff. Our room was lovely perfect for what we wanted extremely comfortable beds a big plus. Tea and toilet facilities where very limited in room when we first arrived but once we asked a member of staff to get us more it was no problem and done effectively.
I would like to also give the house keeping staff credit as I thought I left something behind me in the room when I got back home (Ireland) they returned my call and very helpful. I would definitely return and recommend this Inn to others.

Stayed here for two nights whilst in the area for a friend's wedding.

Overall, it did the job - rooms were clean, staff were friendly, all rooms had the basic amenities and there was a decent array of items on the breakfast buffet.

Two main negatives were 1) that the shower in our room was awful, took a long while to get going and the water was only lukewarm and 2) we are not local to bolton (we live 8 hours away) so asked the staff about some of the things we could do in the area but they were just as clueless as what we are. Apparently they commute in and aren't local either!

I will add though that they really went out of their way for my friend who is gluten free. Nothing was too much trouble and they endured she was given a wide range of food choices as well which was extremely helpful and a nice personalised touch.

I was sooooo amazed at how I was treated. I was at the hotel for my friends wedding and I have coeliac disease so I couldn't eat the normal breakfast. They went above and beyond for me. They brought me so much food and cooked it especially for me. I was stunned at how amazing they were. I contacted the hotel a week before so that I would be able to eat something but I was not expecting all that. Fantastic!!!!

The room we stayed in was really clean and you get 2 different types of pillows which is great for personal use. The staff were so friendly. Would definitely recommend staying here and I would stay here again.

Stayed here for one night on business. Good friendly welcome at reception and upgraded to an Executive Room. However, when I saw the bedroom it was a lower standard than a Premier Inn that I recently stayed in. Very bland and underwhelming and the bathroom could definitely do with an upgrade. The leisure facilities are quite small which was ok as this was explained on the hotel website. The restaurant and bar area are pleasant and comfortable, however the prices for both food and drink is overpriced for what you receive. The breakfast is £10 per room which is great value for a couple sharing but rather expensive for one - surely this can be addressed.
Overall a pleasant enough stay albeit underwhelming and overpriced.
On the plus side the beds are comfortable and the staff excellent.

This is the best in Bolton
I stay on a regular basis with work and have often been placed elsewhere, however nothing beats this hotel
The service right through from reception to room service is fantastic and the food is also cooked to perfection.
Can't fault it at all except for the road noise of which they have no control
Glad to be booked in here

Upon check in the girl who checked us in was the most helpful person i have dealt with in a hotel in many years, was a delight and could not have been any easier. ANy other staff member we interacted with was also very nice.

The location of this hotel is excellent right in town and only an easy 10 minute walk from the train station, the room was very nice and comfortable and free wifi to use in rooms so no complaints about this hotel at all. Would highly recommend and we will stay here again.

As parents of the bride I would just like to say that the staff couldn't do more for us if they tried. This venue was not the original chosen one, but due to circumstances beyond our control The Holiday Inn agreed for us to hold the reception in The Cloisters. The staff, especially the guy manning the bar for just 3 of us until 4.30 in the morning, deserves a special mention. He was great and nothing too much trouble. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Large clean room comfy bed, warm but did have aircon but didn't realise! Very comfortable beds and good pillows.
It did have a window which opened. Good shower - quite a tired looking bathroom but very clean and lovely soft towels and plenty of them. No biscuits with coffee and tea.
Nice public areas with bar and restaurant. Breakfast was good but chaotic - no plates glasses t bags , hot water .... Staff running around very stressed as understaffed but it was very nice and well cooked food.
Car park underneath was very convenient and free wifi although it didn't work in our room.
Nice staff on reception and in dining room just very stressed as rushed off their feet.

Yesterday I attended a baby shower in the restaurant area of the holiday inn. There was a table of 14 of us having afternoon tea and we were very well looked after for the whole afternoon. They let us arrive early in order to set up and arranged extra's such as an extra cake table and even went to find some blue tac for decorations. The afternoon tea consisted of various sandwiches, cakes (lemon drizzle, scone, brownies, mini cakes) and also pots of tea for everyone.
Excellent service and special thanks to the staff for being very helpful and accommodating!

The rating is about right . it is an average three star hotel. The staff are helpful and polite but it could do with a refresh . I would stay again and it is about as good as it gets in Bolton .

I would say the service from staff was great. he room was a bit disappointing. I got the view of scaffolding and backs of a wall. The room was also a bit small and not as shown on the pictures.
The room was just a bit dated.
Room service food was ok. the girl that delivered it was a breath of fresh air and so friendly and helpful. A credit to the hotel.
Be warned the car park is small.
Ok for business but would as for a room with a better view.

Stayed for work newly refurbished as many of the holiday inn hotels are which is one of the reasons along with the rewards club that I stay at them regularly, nice restaurant for dinner and good breakfast, can't imagine there's many reasons to stay at this hotel other than work as there's not much to do in the area but a decent hotel none the less

Nice, comfortable room, which was clean and well equipped. Nice supply of toiletries, etc. Bottled water provided in room. Staff very polite and helpful at reception and in the restaurant. Food was O.K. Hotel is very conveniently situated for the town centre.

The rooms were very quiet, even though they often have functions and events down on the ground floor. It's an easy walk from the Bolton train station (mostly through theh pedestrian-only shopping area around Victoria Square).

Stayed here before and it is very handy for town which is full of good places to eat and some good pubs. Every thing is just like most of the Holiday Inns and what you would expect. Very welcoming and friendly staff, if you are driving then please don't forget to register you car at reception or you will receive a surprise in the post.

My family and I have stayed in this hotel a few times in recent years and every visit has been a pleasure.
On arrival of our first visit we were greeted in a very friendly and efficient manner and you d this was something that remains a constant. Staff are all very helpful and friendly and you are made to feel very valued and your custom appreciated .
I've found all the rooms we have stayed in to bee clean, well equipped and perfect for purpose.
We usually stay for a long weekend and have never experienced some of the issues raised in other reviews such as noise etc. Literally had no reason to complain at all. This hotel is my top choice when visiting the area and would recommend to otherrs. Prices are very reasonable and breakfast options are varied and spot on for the start of a big day!
Keep up the good work guys, your doing a sterling job!

Stayed at this hotel on Saturday 24th June 2017. My first impressions is that it's very dated, you felt as you had gone back in time 10 years or so, it was shabby and in desperate need of a modern overall.

It is my understanding from reading current reviews that their are no plans scheduled for any kind of refurbishment as the owners feel the hotel is running fine and this goes for its current appearance. Furthermore they state that if and when fixtures and fittings are damaged they will be fixed, so maybe in a few years they may digest all the guest reviews and give this much dated hotel a fresh coat of paint and bring in more modern furniture.

This aside I would like to mention the many great attributes this hotel has.

Upon-check-in I was given an a complimentary Executive Room Upgrade which was very much appreciated. This was down to my Platinum Elite Status.

The reception staff themselves excelled in Guest Service Etiquette, they were extremely attentive and very professional. The bedroom I was given was number 321 and I have to say it had everything you could possibly want.

If you put aside its dated appearance and shabby furniture its a decent enough room, it had a lovely mattress and I had a lovely nights sleep.

The Breakfast in the morning which incidentally at weekends is served from 8.am - 12.noon was lovely, the hot food selection was ample, it had fresh fruits, yogurts, a large selection of cold meats, cheese and drinks, the usual full hot food selections were their too and and we were even able to order freshly made omelettes.

The quality of the food was very good, it was piping hot and well cooked.

What I predominantly noticed about this hotel was just how well the staff work together as a team, they were all noticeably hardworking including the house-keeping staff whom made sure the communal areas and the bedrooms are scrupulously clean.

I must give high commendation to the Management as I was very impressed that they were helping out in the restaurant, clearing and wiping down tables, carrying dishes etc, this only goes to show that if you all work together as a team regardless of your position in the hotel then the place will run like clockwork and will be well efficient.

Would I stay here again ?, The answer is most definitely, I had a lovely nights sleep, I had a lovely breakfast and the staff were helpful, professional, attentive, courteous and the management were very much hands-on.
