Stayed for one night and managed to find a parking space in the underground car park. I thought it was a bit packed but later realised there's plenty of outdoor parking. Check in was quick and efficient as I'd booked online - Louise was cheerful and helpful.

The room was fine and seemed more modern than the bathroom (which was functional and so no problem). For some reason I had difficulty working out how to switch on the light by the TV and eventually realised the switch was located with the bedside cluster. The pillows had tabbards advising hard and soft but they felt the same and so decided on the hard which were on the side I normally sleep. During the night I had a stiff neck and swapped to the soft pillows and that seemed to work.

Not sure how far the hotel is from the centre of town and so decided to have dinner in the restaurant. I had a book and so wasn't particularly bothered about the service, however I was not asked if all was ok or whether I wanted another drink so decided to try the bar - big mistake as the bar person was too busy occupied bantering with a group men and after a couple of minutes I decided not to bother and left.

Breakfast was sufficient although the toaster seemed to take an age. A helpful waiter wrote down directions to the nearest car wash.

My overall marking is based on the fact there's no free wi-fi and the evening service was sloppy. This is a shame because there were other helpful staff and the hotel is perfectly adequate.

An acceptable choice in the centre of the town. Secure parking in basement and a good health centre. Very helpful front desk and friendly bar staff. Bit pricey (£90 excl breakfast) in my opinion. A short walk away are several restaurants and bars plus town centre shops.

Stayed here on recommendation, as it was conveniently situated for a family christening. The accommodation was clean and comfortable. Good location to Bolton town, although on the Saturday night the town was very quiet.

This month I got a very clean, fresh double room. The only problem was that my colleague (also staying in the hotel with this same reservation) got a twin room and we both requested specifically double rooms (we're big guys). They should ensure accommodations at the time of booking, not when you get there.

Sort this out, will not stay with you again whilst you rip customers of over a basic service....I stayed because of your adverts, but did not realise that it applied only to holiday inn express, and you are not..breakfast starts late on a Saturday, but was not advertised as such, so after pre-booking had to miss it as had a plane to catch, fortunately reception eventually saw sense and took it of my bill, after a discussion......rooms looking tired, broken toilet roll holder. But cleaned and tidy. Glad I did notay full price for this one.....

pleasant rooms - a little dated but extremely good value
if working North of Manchester this is a good choice
However, staff are extremely pleasant and service is great
We used their facilities for a series of focus groups we were undertaking

Great location, approx 2 minutes walk to Bolton Town Centre. The train and bus station are within 10 minutes walking distance. Very nice friendly staff, good gym and pool. Clean and tidy room with good shower pressure in the bathroom (some people might like to know this!). Check out was very quick and efficient. Overall ambiance of this place was lovely, I stayed for 2 weeks and would definitely stay there again on my next trip to Bolton.

I stayed for one night here with work and could not fault any part of my stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast was great and my room was clean and tidy.

I would recommend the diablo pizza!

I had my 30th birthday party in the Ashton Suite and stayed the night in hotel also. The organisation of the evening was fantastic. We were allowed to go in the room to decorate before the party a few hours before. This left myself and others time to relax before the evening. The nice girl at the front desk was really welcoming and when even wished me happy birthday (which was a nice touch). Check in was very quick which was a plus point also. Managed to use the gym in the hotel which had everything I use normally so once again, a nice plus point.

The venue (Ashton Suite) was really spacious, staff really organised and polite. I can't remember the girl's name who was overseeing the party (I'm sorry) but if I had any requests/questions she was happy to help. The whole evening went without a hitch and everyone who attended really enjoyed the evening.

The breakfast the next day was really nice. Lots of choice, whether like full English breakfast style food or simply toast or cereal. Once again, there couldn't be any complaints regarding it.

It is only a small point but after the party we would of stayed in the hotel bar but this closed at 2am. It's a small minor thing but would of been better if it had been open longer as we didn't leave the Ashton suite till 1:15-1:30am.

I would definitely be staying here again and would recommend the hotel for future venues.

Very good service from the moment you check in with friendly reception staff who were professional but also had a personality. Excellent room with everything you ended and very comfortable bed.

Marked down to 4* as the bar drinks were overpriced meaning if you wanted to unwind with a vino, it was better to find somewhere else to go.

We stayed at this hotel for one night in early September whilst visiting family in the area.
It is an older 1970s style building with decoration to match.
It is very clean and well maintained but has that air of being well used about it, especially the room furniture.
However it is a comfortable hotel and the staff are great, genuinely friendly helpful and efficient, which is all you can ask for at a budget hotel.
The breakfast, which is an extra charge, was superb with a plentiful 'Full English' served buffet style and a Continental selection also available.
I would recommend this hotel for a shart stay at a reasonable price.

Stayed last weekend for one night. Our room was massive, separate shower and bath, double bed, single bed and sofa. The room is a little dated but it was clean and had everything needed. The staff were all very nice, it had a small swimming pool and gym. That to is a little dated, but again all clean and, for me it does the job. Breakfast was decent, and in a nice big open space. All in all, I would recommend it. You won't be disappointed providing you are not looking for an ultra modern hotel.

Typical Holiday Inn with nothing memorable or adverse either ! Room is a little tired but just ok. Restaurant was ok for dinner but perhaps struggles for breakfast as it can get very busy. Location is very central so if you have to stay in Bolton it's very handy. Ultimately it's been the same for many years but they have at least updated the tv and tried to refresh the decor.

Great central location with free car park. My room 323 was huge with bath and separate shower cubicle. Unusually for me I eat in the hotel restaurant and meal was lovely and the service very quick. Checkout at 05:15 was fast and efficient they even had to unlock the car park gate for me! Well done Holiday Inn Bolton a great stay thanks

My wife, daughter and I stayed at this hotel for one night and had booked a family room. My understanding was that the room would have a double and single bed. We were allocated a room with three single beds, one of which was rather small. No big issue but not as booked.

The wimping pool is really very small so if you want to splash around with your kids, it's a good option. If you'd like to have a swim though, this is not the place.

The hotel was ok for a one night stay and there were a couple of staff, Alpesh in the restaurant and Diane on reception whose personal efforts to making our stay enjoyable are worthy of mention.

Stayed here for 2 nights to combine a day out to Haydock Races (which is about a 30min drive away)
Booked with IHG priority member so got a really good price and a free upgrade to an Executive room with bath robe, toiletries and complimentary drink and chocolate in the fridge.
Couldn't fault the staff, all very efficient, friendly and helpful.
The hotel is in a great position for Bolton Centre - only 5min walk to all the bars.
We had a pre-booked breakfast at £10.00/head (£14.95 on the day which I think is a bit expensive) the breakfast was very enjoyable with a vast choice of items.
The rooms are clean and comfy but do need a bit of an update.
I would definitely return.

Friendly staff and decent restaurant. Room a little bit "tired" and, surprisingly, no Sky TV. Surrounding area did not feel the safest to walk around in after dark

Second time in this hotel. Disappointed about staying in a twin room when booking was for a double. It smelled a little funny. But it's really close to my target visit.

On arrival we were told that the double room we booked was not available, not happy but too tired to moan too much after a 5 hour drive to Bolton. Within the hour a knock on our door and a complimentary bottle of wine and further apologies. Half hour after that the phone rang, it was the duty manager to apologise and offer us an upgrade the next night to an executive room. Marvellous!! The staff were very good. We ate in the restaurant where we had a good meal for the price, with excellent service from a crew of very nice young people.
