Great! Lovely clean hotel, courteous and helpful staff, comfortable rooms. But no biscuits with the coffee and milk and it's a bit hard to find the hotel via the one way system/sat navs send you up one way streets the wrong way haha!

Myself and my husband had our wedding breakfast and reception here on 04/08/12, it was absolutely beautiful, we were in the Cloister suite and it is a stunning room!
The staff were very accomodating on the run up to the wedding and Rebecca our master of ceremonies was absolutely brilliant, nothing was too much trouble for her, she was so helpful. Having both worked in customer services ouselves, we were both pleasantly surprised at how great Rebecca was, even during the day she was there making sure everything was running as we wanted it to and asking if there was anything else she could do to help- 1st class service all the way. All of the staff on the day were wonderful and made our day extra special. Thankyou!!

I stayed there for and one night in September. The staff at check in could not have been friendlier or more helpful. The room was a standard HI room: clean and comfortable with no frills and no complaints from me.
It is only a short walk into the town centre, with a great choice of pubs and restaurants.
Breakfast is the usual disappointing affair. Buffet style, barely warm and certainly not worth the £10 to £15 they charge for it.
Overall though, it is definitely a hotel I would stay in again

we recently stayed in this hotel, and cannot find a bad thing to say about it, the rooms were lovely, clean, comfortable, the staff were very helpful and very polite even at 4 in the morning we were greeted with a smile, easy access to shops, pubs.

The hotel itself was fine, the staff were great, really helpful and chatty. The rooms and gym facilites were great and the food was good. My only real problem is the area. My first night I went to check out the restaurants in the area, but my only choices were McDonalds or kebab shops, and walking around on my own I never felt very safe. After the first night never really left the hotel.

Stayed at the holiday inn in Bolton as we were clearing our late grandparents home and had travelled from northampton to do so. After 2 long days heavy lifting was great each day to come back to complete comfort in a very clean hotel. The staff are very professional and friendly and can't do enough for you. 24 hour reception helpful when you are on a time schedule too. Breakfast was really lovely wide choice of items. Would recommend this hotel and would happily stay again!

I recently got married in the Cloister Suite of the Hotel and spent the whole weekend there. Everything was perfect from the moment I arrived, until I left on the Sunday. The staff worked very hard to make my whole experience perfect. A special thanks to Rebecca and the events team for working their socks off to make mine and my husbands wedding the most perfect day. I cannot thank you enough for all you did. I will remember the day forever. The venue and the staff were just perfect XXX

Enjoyed our stay very much staff were helpful, friendly and approachable. We used this as a just outside Manchester base with pool amenities to occupy the children, only comment from me really is that breakfast ended at 9:30 and while on holiday would have been great if this could have been a little later. Otherwise was clean and very satisfied.

Stayed at Holiday Inn in Bolton couple of times but I have to say I was never disappointed. Staff very friendly and helpful from reception to housekeepers who serviced my room. Rooms bit dated but always very very clean.
Definitely recommended.

Location of this hotel is excellent for the proximity to the town centre. Easy walking distance to the shops, businesses and train station.
Great welcome from the reception staff on arrival, couldn't have been more accommodating with a request to change rooms - i had been given a smoking room first. Staff in all areas were very friendly and even remembered my name on my second visit the next week - impressive.
Room was spacious, clean and had everything i needed.
The food served in the restaurant was delicious especially the curry night on Wednesday's. Fresh ingredients and a good choice on offer. Did feel that drinks were a bit pricey though.
Breakfast was vast choice of buffet style items and also had others cooked to order such as pancakes - recommend these! , boiled eggs , kippers etc. Book breakfast the night before and you get it for £10 instead of £14.95 on the day.

We just wanted a couple of nights away and this was close, and didn't use too many of our Holiday Inn Priority Club points. We thought we might eat out for evening meal but a diners club card gave us a discount at the hotel restaurant; there was also a standard offer of a meal for two (2 courses, and a glass of wine each) for £29.99 so that's a good deal. Breakfast at £10 pp if booked on arrival - good full English, with kippers if you asked. Food was fine, and plentiful (on the set deal or a la carte).

Obviously a slack time for a mainly business hotel, but we found the staff very friendly (e.g. happy to google for local info). There was 30 mins internet free with your own laptop in the lounge, but at a price in your room. Very comfy bed, but aircon rather noisy. TV had poor picture. Leisure facilities a bit limited (gym, sauna, small pool) but better than nowt. Room on west side so got a sunset over Rivington Pike.

Suited us for what we wanted - and they promise better TVs soon.

Check in easy mid week and early afternoon got us up to our room in 5mins. The room was a bit jaded and looking tired. I think the room was generally clean but the bathroom was not to the usual standard not filthy but certainly not in the bath and tiles a little bit of elbow grease would go a long way.
We like the hotel and have stayed here several times over the last couple of years as its location is great for the local casino and the restaurant is brill. We paid £92 and DBB and with the £23pp allowance for evening meal and a drink thrown in for eating before 7.30pm it was a good deal. Think a quiet word with housekeeping is required or maybe a little overhaul before things really start to go down hill.

Attended a wedding here recently. The wedding ceremony started at 2.30pm and unbelievably were told that we couldn't book in until 2pm. I tried to reason with the receptionist, she was immovable. Even though I said we were travelling a distance and needed to get ready, she suggested the toilets. There isn't any exceptions between normal guests and wedding guests, noot goood. We arrived at 1.50 and there was a queue to book in, only 1 trainee member of staff on reception, not her fault.

The wedding was in the old part off the hotel in the church itself, it was beautiful as was the table set up. The food was good, the service was okay, we waited a long time after asking for more gravy, as there clearly wasn't enough for 8.

The drinks were hotel prices ...

The room was modern and clean and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast the following morning which is buffet style was excellent as were the staff, polite and efficient.

So all in all I would recommend this hotel, but there are things that can be improved upon. Early check in for wedding guests would be a start

Myself and my 84year old aunt went to Bolton for three days and two nights. The two nights we had the joy of staying in the holiday Inn.
The first person we met was Rececca on reception she was so nice, gave us a choice of rooms, and gave me written instructions on how to get to a few shops I needed to get to. She could not have been nicer to us. We had Dinner on our first night our waitress Ann was so helpful and kind and when my aunt did not like her potatoes she noticed, and gave her complementary tea.
When we came down for breakfast a very nice manager explained to us where everything was, breakfast itself was very nice all of the food was just perfect.
When I was leaving in the morning one of the cleaning staff offered to help me with my suitcases. How can anyone complain about this hotel with such lovely staff.

Good clean fun. Easy to find and as central as you could get. Clean, well maintained room. I didn't eat at the Hotel but the Restaurant looked friendly and airy. Very easy parking and very quiet given it's location.

we booked our wedding in jan 2012 for the 28/7/12.
the wedding co-ordinator kept us updated on the things we had to do through out the proccess, on the build-up to the big day, and everything went as planned.
Rebecca the host master was waiting for us with a glass of champagne as we arrived in the weding car.
the wedding breakfast was lovely and very well presented (just as we ordered in the tasting session) , as was the evening buffet.
Our room and six of our wedding guests rooms were spotless.
Thank you Rebecca and all the staff at the holiday inn, it was certainly a day to remember for me my new wife and all our guests.

The satnav took us on a merry tour of Bolton, trying to get us to go up no entries etc and eventually we found the entrance to the underground car park. On checking in, as two Platinum Priority Club members, the only recognition was a sealed envelope from the Priority Club Champion!

When entering the restaurant, we were asked for our Green card, but on production of our Blue card, were told that we could only have discount if we ate in the bar, what a strange situation as the restaurant is very impressive with a high vaulted ceiling and lots of glass.

At this time, things started to improve, a proper Stella glass, a cheerful attentive waitress, and excellent food. The baked prawn starter with a large chunk of very fresh bread was superb, and the Rib eye steak was cooked to perfection, and the accompanying mash was good and soaked up all the juices. The best bit was that I often ask for "naked" vanilla ice-cream, i.e. with no sauces, sprinkles etc and this was delivered with a neat comment that made me smile.

Breakfast was good with my request for a ham, cheese and jalapeno omelet quickly met, and it was delicious.

Check out was uneventful, with no questions about the quality of our stay, its a shame that there is such inconsistency between Holiday Inns, but then I still keep coming back.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Bolton Centre for a conference. The staff were great, very friendly. I ate in the Lounge Cafe/Restaurant on one night and had a very nice meal. Didn't try the "proper" restaurant. The room was comfortable and clean and I liked the touch of having pillows of different softness (though I couldn't see all that much difference between the soft and firm, to be honest). A very enjoyable stay - I just wish I'd found the time to use the pool and/or fitness suite.

Stayed here for one night while on a training course for work, with 2 colleagues. Arrived late evening, hotel was wasy to find, check in was easy, room was good and comfortable. Breakfast was good, check out was easy.

Only downside, which wasn't really much of a problem, the hotel car park was full, but there is a Pay & Display opposite, and you can park all night for a pound.

Overall a good night's stay and would stay here again if in Bolton in the future

We stayed at the hotel to attend a family event nearby. The hotel is a former Moat House and sits in the centre of Bolton.
The hotel has some underground parking, but I can imagine this may become full quickly.

The reception staff were helpful, especially with booking taxis and left luggage. The rooms/beds comfortable, although decor slightly tired - average standard in compaison with other Holiday Inn hotels. I would note the shower head was mouldy and the kettle rather grubby.

We were surprised at how small the main restaurant was and that it was not better seperated from the foyer - we did not eat here though, so I cannot comment further.

We asked for late checkout, normally available to priority club members - however the hotel was unable to honour this due to a couple of events on.

Altogether, a good stay.. However I've stayed in more impressive Holiday Inns!

We stayed for 2 nights on a B&B basis.

Good points:
Plenty of car parking
Good range of breakfast foods and plenty of seating
Polite, friendly and helpful staff
Good pool (based on the opinion of my brother, nephew and niece
Location - easy to find, near to town centre and main roads to the motorway
Nice rooms
Plenty of tea and coffee in the rooms
Good shower
Spotlessly clean rooms
Comfortable beds

Bad points
Insufficient staff at busy times - took a while to check in
Some issues with the check in system meant some issues with members of our group being asked to have twins rather than doubles and vice versa but upgrades were offered so this was a brief concern rather than a problem.
Not enough menus at the restaurant - had to wait until other group had finished perusing
Fairly expensive food and drinks (5 coffees and a J2O was nearly £19)
Some noise from the parties held below
Battery in safe had expired

This is a nice Holiday Inn and actually serves good food in the restaurant too. The fish and chips deserve special praise. Good location very close to the town centre and museums. It also has underground car parking (tricky to park in some spaces here) and open, above ground, parking. But be warned it is a popular hotel for wedding receptions and parties at weekends. The noise in our room was awful at midnight on Saturday and we were not offered a change of room when we complained(but who would want to change at midnight?). The din finished at 1 a.m. The management reduced our bill appropriately next day but we'd have preferred a good nights sleep. So we'd recommend either avoiding weekends here or make sure you have a room which is well away from the wedding reception rooms (they can apparently accommodate 3 weddings at one time).
