By using the city as a live learning environment, the programme showcases Birmingham's diverse organisations, communities and leaders while creating valuable opportunities for collaboration and leadership development.

Delivered over three immersive days, Beacon takes participants beyond the boundaries of their own organisations and sectors, encouraging them to explore leadership through different perspectives and experiences.

Through access to senior leaders, community organisations and businesses across the city, participants gain fresh insights into the challenges and opportunities shaping Birmingham and the wider UK.

Rather than relying on traditional theory-based learning, Beacon uses real-world experiences to help participants strengthen their ability to influence, collaborate and lead effectively in complex environments.

The programme develops practical leadership capabilities including systems thinking, self-leadership, situational leadership and cross-sector collaboration - skills that are increasingly critical in today's interconnected world.

Louise Teboul (pictured), Birmingham-based partnerships director at Common Purpose, said: "Every time we bring a programme to Birmingham, I'm reminded what an extraordinary city it is for learning.

“Participants get to see leadership through different lenses; meet people they would never normally encounter and gain insights that simply aren't available in a classroom.

“Birmingham's diversity, energy and spirit of innovation make it the perfect setting for developing the leaders our organisations and communities need for the future."

The programme attracts ambitious professionals from a wide range of organisations and sectors, creating a diverse learning community where participants can build meaningful connections, challenge assumptions and broaden their understanding of leadership beyond their immediate context.

For Birmingham organisations, the programme provides an opportunity to invest in high-potential talent while connecting employees with a powerful network of peers and leaders from across the UK.

For participants, it offers a unique chance to develop greater confidence, broaden their perspective and accelerate their leadership journey.

The return of Beacon reinforces Birmingham's role as a centre for leadership development and innovation.

As one of the UK's most dynamic and diverse cities, Birmingham provides an ideal environment for participants to explore complex challenges, engage with different communities and discover new approaches to leadership.

Places are now available for the September cohort. To find out more about Beacon and other Common Purpose leadership programmes, visit Common Purpose.
