Residents are being invited to comment on the outline planning application for the 20-year regeneration programme being brought forward by Birmingham City Council in partnership with developer Lovell.
This is the third formal consultation period in the planning history of the application, alongside wider involvement from residents throughout the development of the plans.
In a key change, the amount of social rented homes being delivered through the outline planning application has increased, from 11.4 per cent up to 20 per cent.
Alongside this, the partnership’s wider commitment remains that, once the regeneration is complete, at least 51 per cent of homes in Druids Heath will be affordable.
It also remains the case that all existing council tenants in the regeneration area will be re-provided for, and homeowners will be offered a financial package enabling them to remain in Druids Heath.
The proposals also include improved open spaces, play areas and other recreational facilities.
The consultation reopens following legal action relating to the outline planning consent, which was originally approved in October 2025. Birmingham City Council subsequently agreed to cancel the approval and return to Planning Committee for a fresh decision later this year.
Before the application returns to committee, residents are being invited to give their thoughts and opinions. Submissions received in the original consultation will still be noted, but this new consultation offers a renewed chance for residents to have their say.
Birmingham City Council and Lovell are also working with Planning Aid England and Loconomy to provide a free drop-in event during the consultation period.
This session will help residents understand the proposals and the planning process, and they can provide independent support to anyone who wants to submit comments.
The event will take place on 15 September from 10am to 3pm at the Regeneration Room, Idmiston Croft.
Local households will receive information by post, explaining how and when they can take part, and notices will also be displayed around the estate.
The consultation opens on Monday, 7 September and is due to close on Wednesday, 7 October 2026.
