The National Event will be held in Nottingham but as one of the events happening all around the country, Birmingham will host its own event to mark Armed Forces Day in Victoria Square, Chamberlain Square and Centenary Square. Starting at 11.00 am, in Victoria Square there will be stalls from organisations including the Royal British Legion, Help for Heroes and the War Widows Association, a childrens workshop where youngsters will be encouraged to be creative by making boats, planes etc., and a climbing wall and there will be the chance to try out a RAF Typhoon flight simulator. During the day in Chamberlain Square there will be a full programme of entertainment on stage, including songs from the wartime era and swing music. At 12.30 pm, a Drumhead Service will take place in Centenary Square with all sections of the Armed Forces and Veterans taking part. Further details about Armed Forces Day can be found on their website.
