July is a wonderful month for events and concerts. And this weekend is no exception!

This weekend’s schedule of events have a very retro vibe, with Ulverston hosting both the Furness Tradition Festival and Retro Rendezvous.

Not to be outdone, Millom hold their Carnival this Saturday and have a full day and night of entertainment planned.

Maybe a concert or a stage show is more your thing? If so both the Coronation Hall and Forum 28 have something for you over this weekend.

Events and Activities in Barrow and Furness this weekend…

 

Coronation Hall : UVHS Summer Concert .Friday 10th July. The Coronation Hall in Ulverston is the setting for a wonderful joint concert between the nationally acclaimed UVHS Wind band and the Band of Kennet  School in Berkshire. Show starts at 7.30pm. Tickets: £5 Adults £3 Children.

Retro Rendezvous . Fri 10- Sun 12th July. The Lakes Vintage Festival takes place all over Ulverston this weekend. Everything from vintage stalls and tea rooms, to live vintage music and classic cars. There’s something for everyone. Live music by Dig A Pony on Friday night 9.00pm. The festival starts in earnest Sat 11th 10.00am

The Roxy Cinema: Breakfast At Tiffany’s. Sat 11th July. To celebrate all things vintage the Roxy cinema are doing a special screening of the Iconic Breakfast At Tiffany’s. Doors open at the Laurel and Hardy Museum at 6.30pm for cocktails before moving to The Roxy where there will also be a vintage photobooth.  Tickets are £10 (includes welcome drink and film)

L’ancienne Vintage Bike Festival. Fri 10th – 12th July. The vintage bike festival returns to Ulverston. Dress up in your best vintage clothes, get your old bike out the shed and join us for the best bike ride in Cumbria. Choose from a selection of routes, meet some wonderful people and have some fun. Entrance fee starts from £24 per person.

Millom Carnival Sat 11th July.  Parade starts at 12.00pm at Millom Rugby Club. The Parade Field opens at 1.15pm ) Field attractions include Muncaster Huskies, kids rides and stalls, adult bouncy castle, Millom Archers, displays, tug ‘o ‘ war contest and much more. Admission: Adults £3, Children 5-16 £1, Under 5’s free.

The Dock Museum  Barrow: Bite sized Archeology and Flint Knapping Sun 12th July 11am – 3pm To celebrate the 2015 Festival of British Archeology, Barrow Dock Museum are offering a range of free taster lessons. Free Admission.

Forum 28 Barrow In Furness: Gyles Brandreth – Word Power Sat 11th July 7.30pm Join Edinburgh fringe award winner Gyles  - wit and word meister, former MP, Just A Minute regular, One Show reporter, QI, Have I Got News For You and Countdown survivor on an amazing amusing and unexpected magic carpet ride around the awesome world of words. Tickets £14.00 Concessions £12.00

Furness Tradition Festival 10th-12th July. This weekend sees the 17th Furness Tradition Festival take place in Ulverston. The programme of events includes concerts, dancing, storytelling and workshops.Acts appearing over the weekend include: Bob Fox, John Spiers, Thieving Magpie, The Askew Sister and many more.Tickets for the weekend are £40 per Adult, £30 per child. Indoor and outdoor camping is available at Pennington Memorial Hall Swarthmoor LA12 0RT. £5 per head/night for adults, £2.50 per head/night for children.
