23rd October – An Evening with Robbie Hunter-Paul at Crooklands Garden Centre

Come and meet the 1996 Challenge Cup Hat trick hero, Lance Todd Trophy Winner and current Rugby League pundit - Robbie Hunter Paul.

Comedian Norman Price will be supporting the evening too. Norman's been involved in the world of entertainment for over 40 years, so this promises to be a cracking night!

Tickets are £25 per person, includes a hog roast meal!

23rd October – Morris and Sword Dancing Taster Session

St. Mary’s RC Church Hall on Victoria Road Ulverston are holding a dancing taster session.

Here’s a great chance to come along and have a go at England’s best known, traditional dance form. There is even a small bribe in the form of free beer following your exertions! We are a mixed side and are very happy to change the bribe to wine if anyone prefers!

The evening starts at 7.30pm and lasts around 2 hours.

23rd October – An Evening with Jonny Nelson at The Nines

The Nines are holding an evening with Former British, European and WBO Cruiserweight Champion and the face of Sky Sports Boxing 'Johnny Nelson' alongside Talksports's Dominic McGuiness as compère and Britain’s Got Talent finalist, impressionist Les Gibson.

All tickets include raffle, memorabilia auction and pie and peas supper.

23rd October – Live Music & Art Auction at The Coach House

The Coach House at Ford Park Ulverston is holding a special fundraising event( in collaboration with URS) in aid of the refugee crisis. Art work by local artists will be sold at auction, and there will be liove music from Bad Transmission, Sam Robinson Band & Sphelm.

24th October – 31st October – Halloween at Old Hall Farm in Bouth 

The ghouls and ghosts are out at Old Hall Farm this Halloween, with a half-term week packed full of activities for the family.

Open from 10am – 5pm every day for the October Half Term Week, you can discover plenty of spooky goings on to entertain the little ones.

Try your hand at pumpkin carving or try some of the fangtastic farm games including apple bobbing, a spooky dips game or even take part in the Halloween treasure Hunt.

If you’re feeling extremely brave – visit the haunted barn and see what spooky sights lurk inside. Go on a mysterious tour of the farm and listen to the tale of the ghost of Old Hall.

Modern life can seem so complex that we often feel we are struggling against a mass of daily problems and difficulties. Through training in meditation we can maintain a calm and happy mind, no matter what happens.

24th October – Haydn Nelson Mass

Levens Choir is hosting this Come and Sing event which offers the opportunity to sing one of the best known settings and well-loved settings of the Mass. The day will be led by Ian Jones and accompanied by organist Adrian Self and a five piece string quintet and timpanist. The Nelson Mass will form the second part of an evening concert in the Priory, the first half of which will be given by Levens Choir.

Session Two 4.15 - 5.30pm at  Cartmel Priory.

 24th October – Charity Gig for North West Air Ambulance

Jules Hair and Beauty are holding a charity gig at The Nines in support of the North West Air Ambulance.

Come and have a drink; or just a dance and help to support such an important charity that saves lives everyday.

There will be music from Megan Doherty, John Byrne and guests, as well as a DJ and a raffle.

25th October – Fodens Brass band at The Forum

Formed in 1900 in the Cheshire village of Sandbach, the band has maintained their position as one of the world’s leading Brass Bands on the contest stage as well as in concert halls where they are renowned for providing quality entertainment with a traditional and unique style.

Fodens Band will perform an entertaining programme with music to suit all tastes as well as featuring the bands world class soloists

25th October – Canvas & Thread Decorative Arts Fair

Canvas and Thread is an artist collective based in South Lakes offering advice and support either as one to one tuition sessions and workshops at our Decorative Arts Fair on the last Sunday of the month

The Art Fair will be held at The Grange Institute, Main Street from 10am – 4pm

26th October – Hallo- Meanies at The Nines.

A musical spectacular for Halloween with all your favourite fairy tale characters live on stage. Full stage production complete with Stunning Sets, Spectacular costumes with lots of audience participation and family fun! Kids will LOVE it!

Crafts based on bats, pumpkins, a nature trail and weather permitting a batty run around the field.
