What's On In Barrow and Furness this week?
16th November 2015
... Comments

Rusland Pool have generously sponsored this year’s switch on, which takes place on Saturday 21st November at Town Square. The fun kicks off around 3.45pm, but you’ll want to get there early so you can get a place at the front of The Bay Stage because there are plenty of fabulous acts to keep you entertained.

Stooshe are headlining this year’s event, and with Singers from X Factor 2014 and Britain’s Got Talent performers from 2014  also taking to the stage ( as well as local talent showcasing their musical flair) it promises to be bigger and better than ever.

The Christmas lights will be switched on at 5.30pm with the acts ending at 6pm.

It’s going to be a wonderful event, make sure you wrap up warm, get there early and soak up the atmosphere – you won’t want to miss this.

But of course, the fun doesn’t begin and end there – oh no! There’s a wide range of other events taking place across Barrow and Furness, from a charity concert, to tribute acts, comedy nights and even a wine tasting evening (sounds good to me!)

So grab a drink, turn up the heating and have a look at what’s on offer this weekend!

Tuesday 24th –   Saturday 28th November – Time Of My Life

Ulverston Outsiders present Alan Ayckbourn's popular comedy Time of my Life

The play is set in a local restaurant where Gerry Stratton has organized a family dinner with his sons Glyn and Adam to celebrate his wife Laura's 54th birthday. Glyn is with his long suffering wife Stephanie; their marriage looks to be on firmer ground than it once was. Adam has brought along his new girlfriend, an outrageous hairdresser, and they are both eager to impress.    Ayckbourn offers us an entertaining glimpse into their lives through three different time zones: as Gerry and Laura’s meal takes place in the present, Glyn and Stephanie’s scenes progress into the future, whilst Adam and Maureen’s is acted out in reverse.  Sometimes sombre, always surprising and wonderfully funny, this production is not one to be missed.
