Fancy getting involved in one of the UK’s fastest, physical sports?
Well, this is for you!
Walney Terriers American Football Team are looking for new recruits for next season, and with their rookie try outs just around the corner, are encouraging people to turn up, take part and discover just how much fun this sport can be.
The club was formed in 2012, and has been growing ever since, and they are always on the lookout for players, coaches and support staff.
Sure it’s fast, certainly hard hitting; and to anyone new to the sport it can all seem a bit daunting. But don’t be put off – it’s fantastic!
If you’ve never played the sport before, and don’t know the rules, that’s fine; no previous experience (or fitness) is necessary because the team and experienced coaches will be there to guide everyone through the session and help everyone enjoy themselves. They’ll teach you the rules, the positions and how to play the game safely.
Anyone can join in (providing you’re over 18) it doesn’t matter if you’re male, female, an all-round athlete – or just round! The coaches will help mould you into whatever you want to be. Gender or fitness levels aren’t important, but the right attitude is.
The rookie sessions take place at Hawcoat Sports Club, starting at 1pm. All you need to bring with you are boots, water, a gumshield, and clothes to train in. Helmets, pads and equipment will be provided.
