6th June 2011

The Ulverston International Music Festival was founded in 2003 by acclaimed classical pianist, Anthony Hewitt. The Festival presents principally classical and jazz music through a programme of concerts, as well as education and outreach work, bringing artists of the very highest calibre to the South Lakes.

Their main event is a summer Festival in June held in Ulverston at the Coronation Hall, Ulverston Parish Church and at Lanternhouse International.

An autumn and winter mini series at the Victory Hall in Broughton-in-Furness complements the summer Festival, bringing high-profile artists such as Kathryn Stott to this remote corner of Cumbria, and retains audience awareness of Festival activities on a year-round basis.

With an education programme of workshops and master classes in schools, as well as a Family Concert, the Festival gives young people the opportunity to develop their skills and confidence through interaction with professional musicians. The festival are also are committed to music in the community through our 'Tones in Homes’ project where artists have gone into community care, residential homes, and the Hospice to perform.
