Last week the members of Ulverston Business Alliance (UBA) gathered at Ulverston Brewery for a triple celebration. The celebrations began with UBA’s 6th birthday and delicious pie and peas washed down with Ulverston Breweries finest ales. Both went down a treat!

UBA prides itself on its connections with both the business community and local charities and was thrilled that their 400th member was non other than Bob Qazi, head of fundraising for St Mary’s Hospice. Bob talked to members about his new role and how the Hospice is keen to work with local businesses and he was presented with a pair of beautiful cuff links by Marilyn Ann Hale and of course a bottle of bubbles.

The final part of the celebrations was the announcement of the winner of the Paul Jarvis Young Entrepreneur Award. The UBA committee had deliberated for many hours over the many worthy nominees and narrowed it down to 2 worthy finalists, Hannah Willetts from Hannah Willetts A Collection of Crafts and Rebekah Matthews of Rebekah Claire Art.

And the winner is….drum roll please… Hannah Willetts. Congratulations Hannah, so very well deserved.

UBA Chair Suzanne Edgley said “It was really hard to decide between our two finalists. Both deserved to win but we had to choose a winner. Rebekah may be the runner up but is a very talented young artist and an entrepreneur to watch out for. We are sure Paul Jarvis, our founder in whose name this award was presented, will be very pleased with our decision.”
