Christmas is a magical time of the year, all those presents under the tree that you’ve spent hours over making sure they’re all just so - neatly wrapped; adorned with ribbons, bows, gift tags. It’s a joy to behold.
But my goodness, if your house is anything like ours on Christmas morning then it's hard to see over the mountain of rubbish that's left after all the presents have been opened.
The amount of , boxes, and plastic packaging that we have to get rid of is staggering, and naturally we want it gone as soon as possible. So “when are the tips open over Christmas?” we hear you cry (probably from under a mountain of glittery wrapping paper).
Well fret no more folks. Here are the opening times for tips, or as the council likes to put it, Household Waste Recycling Centres near you!
All the local tips listed below will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. They’ll also close early (at 4pm) on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve too.
Project Furness, Ormsgill - Opening hours: 8am - 6pm, 7 days a week
Morecombe Road, Ulverston - Opening hours: 8am - 6pm, 7 days a week
Guides Lot, Grange Over Sands - Opening hours: 8am - 4pm Thur, Fri & Sat
Red Hills Quarry, Millom - Opening Hours: 8am - 4pm, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday
So there you go! Get your plastic, cardboard (and anything else that’s in the way) bagged up and ready to shift.
