The Heart Of Ulverston Awards 2015
8th October 2015
... Comments

This is the third year of this annual awards ceremony, and sees the general public pay tribute to the wonderful, kind-hearted and truly inspirational people that live in the community.

The Evening Mail have been asking the public to nominate people for the awards since July, and (as usual) have had an overwhelming response.

There are eleven categories this year: Citizen of the Year, Community Group/Project, Teacher, Sports Volunteer, Lifetime Achievement Award, Young Sports Performance of the Year – Under 18, Young Citizen of the Year, Helping Hand Award, Courage Award, Environmental Volunteer and Employee of the Year.

Young sports performance of the year – under 18 is a new category for this year’s awards, and recognises any outstanding sporting performance (across any sport) over the last year.

The helping hand category was formerly known as the Carer category and people have had the chance to nominate volunteers, local groups or even kind hearted neighbours.

This is a fantastic event, and gives the public a chance to thank the Town’s many unsung heroes, who make Ulverston the special place to live and work in that it is today. Ulverston has plenty of pretty incredible, caring and hard - working people in the town. It’s only right they they get to be acknowledged.

Here at thebestof we’d like to congratulate all nominees, and wish them the very best of luck for Friday night. You’re an inspiration to us all!
