The 6 week school holidays are here, and although it’s great news for the kids, for parents it can be a real nightmare. Finding activities to keep them occupied can be challenging enough – but if you’re also on a tight budget it can seem impossible and those six weeks can seem like an eternity.

Well, the good news is that help is at hand at Barrow Community Kitchen all through the summer.

Summer is well and truly catered for, as there are plenty of crafts and cooking all summer long at Roosegate Community Centre.

Many children receive free school lunches during term time, so when they’re off it can be a struggle to find that extra bit of food or cash. Barrow Community Kitchen is offering a free lunch for children during weekdays up until the 1st September. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, with adult meals available on the day for just 50p.

Here’s what’s available at the centre over the Summer:

 

Free School Lunches

Free lunch provided throughout summer for every child.

24th July – 1st September

11.30am – 1.30pm

 

Crafty Kitchen (free to all)

Come and learn a new skill, or refresh an old one. Everything is provided.

Wednesdays and Fridays

1.30pm – 4pm

 

Cook Smart

Cooking on a budget with Nicola. All skill levels welcome and everything is provided.

Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

11.30am – 1.30pm

 

So make the most of the summer and come along to Barrow Community Kitchen for food and fellowship. You can feed the kids for free, get a delicious, cheap and nutritious meal for yourself and even learn a new skill or two.
