Fun, quirky events are something we really look forward to. And this Saturday sees the return of The Low Wood No Wood, Cardboard Boat Race (Sponsored by Progression Solicitors)

This will be the fourth race and once more takes part on Lake Windermere. It’s a day packed full of races, entertainment, great food and drink, and plenty of laughs.

It’s the perfect day out for the family, and if you’re spectating, it’s also free to watch. (A donation of a pound coin is suggested for Car Parking – which then goes to local charities)

The racing gets under way at about 10am through till about 3pm as teams take their cardboard creations onto the lake. So if it’s a good laugh you’re after this weekend, then this event is definitely the one for you.

There are 25 teams that have already registered for Saturday’s event, and there are always a few last minute entrants, so it will be a packed day of racing. This year’s event also features an extended Armada Battle. This sees the top crews on the day take on the ‘Low Wood Sea Monster’ – an expertly piloted flyboard which fire high pressure water jets!

So what else is on offer on the day? Well there are plenty of things happening to keep you and the family occupied. As well as plenty of fantastic food and drink throughout the event, there will be a bouncy castle, face painting, a brass band and chances to win prizes in a wonderful raffle. There’s also great live music on after the fun on the lake!

Sounds terrific, doesn’t it?

The entertainment’s ready, the fearless crews have assembled their boats and registered to take part; all that’s left to do now is for you to get down to Low Wood Bay Resort this Saturday and spend the day enjoying yourselves!
