Here’s what’s on offer from some of the areas sports clubs..

Barrow AFC Community is holding Only Girls Allowed coaching sessions at Furness College twice a week. Both sessions are FREE and everyone is welcome .The sessions take place on Monday’s between 6 7pm for Girls in Year 4 to 6 and Fridays from 5-6pm for girls in Year 1 – 3. Dalton Leisure Centre has junior squash coaching sessions every Saturday for children aged 6 to 16. Sessions for beginners run from 9-10am with the improvers class starting afterwards from 10am – 11am. The sessions cost £4 each, or you have the option of buying a block of 8 lessons for £20. Rackets, balls and eye protection are provided. Non marking trainers must be worn.

Furness Cricket Club have Junior training sessions running for players aged between 7 and 15 every week. Indoor sessions run at Chetwynde School Sports hall on Sundays at 10.30am – 11.30am until the end of April. Outdoor sessions start from May 3rd at Furness’s Oxford Street home on both Tuesdays and Thursdays between 4pm and 5.45pm. all sessions cost £2 .Jake Woods, Seth Rance and Peter Lawson take the coaching, and all old and new players are more than welcome. Barrow Celtic are looking for players for their Under 12’s side. From August, the team will be playing 11- a –side matches in the Barrow & District Junior Football League. Anyone interested in playing and being part of the team can attend training sessions on Fridays on th 3G pitches at Pulse in Barrow from 6pm – 7pm. And Furness Cavaliers are launching a new girls Under -10’s team next season and are on the look out for new players to join the squad. The club plan to train once a week in the build up to the Barrow & District Junior Girls Football League that starts in Autumn. Anyone interested can contact the club on their Facebook page.
