The Great British Spring Clean 2018 takes place on the first weekend in March, and ABP Port of Barrow have signed up to take part.

This national campaign has a very simple aim: to bring people across the country together to clear up the litter that blights our towns, villages, countryside and beaches. It’s hoped that this will inspire 500,000 people to get outdoors and get active, clearing up the environment on their doorsteps.

ABP decided to get behind The Great British Spring Clean and are looking for volunteers, community groups, local schools, residents and businesses to join in and do their bit and assist them in doing a mass beach clean on Walney Island.

Staff from ABP will be there on the day to help and give assistance, as well as providing everything needed to make the day a success.

The group will meet at The Roundhouse on Earnse Bay on March 1st from 10.30am, working their way towards Walney School, picking up litter from both the beach and the grass embankment.

If anyone is willing to give up an hour of their time to assist and be part of the clean- up team for the day, then please contact Beth Horan on 01229 822911, or email BHoran@abports.co.uk

Together we can make a difference and clean up the environment on our doorstep, eliminating litter, ending waste and create a great and clean place for everyone to enjoy.
